Best mountain goggle? no-fog??

I spent almost 80.00 last season on the scott 89xi turbo goggles with the light sensitive lenses and still had issues with fogging. I need something that can handle an hour of hard boonbocking then not fog as soon as the sled stops to wait for the guy infront of me to make a move.

I was looking at the Habervision faro goggles with the fan. How many have had this problem and has anyone tried the haber fan goggles?

What works for you?

I've had great luck with my 509's, both 1st and 2nd generations. They now offer the same humidity sensor fan as the Habervisions.

I would recommend the HaberVision Eliminator Combo. I like to ride with the Prima Carbon Frame, Optic Orange Lenses with blue flash. We are "loaning" out our Eliminator to other companies now, but why not go to the company that designed it? ;-)

HaberVision Snowmobile Goggles

What is nice about the Eliminator is that is does have a built in humidity sensor, so the fan turns on when you need it. It is off when you don't need it. You will find that the fan will turn on when you stop, to take a breather, dig someone out, eat lunch, etc. What is nice about that is not only do you not fog, but it allows you to keep the goggles on your head where they belong. The more often you take your goggles on and off the better chance there is of introducing exterior moisture (snow, water, etc) to the inside of the goggle lenses. You take them off and let them sit they start to freeze, they have snow entering them from the weather, your buddy throws a rooster tail up, the tree you are underneath, dumps a load on you, etc, etc. If you can keep them on your face this stuff doesn't happen, the Eliminator allow you to keep them on your face where they belong and will stay dry!!

Oh yeah, a problem many people have had with the scott is that the fan is an INTAKE FAN. So it at times is pulling moisture in and it is always on or always off. I have heard of guys complain that if you go through powder with the scott the fan will literally INJECT snow INTO the goggle!!

Edit, sorry I confused the Smith and Scott goggles.

My scott goggles don't have a fan, and I thought it was the smith fan goggles that was an intake fan.

Scott's fan goggles use an insert that is oddly resembles the haber fan.

Milehighassasin, I value your opinion but it's hard to depend on someone who sell's a product to review it. I'm sure you not trying to steer me down the wrong path, and I'm sure you understand what I mean. I assure you I like the product, and it's pretty much number 1 on the list now but I need to see what's out there.

I personally think the cost of today's goggles has gotten alittle crazy. I have not owned a pair yet that was worth more then 20-30 bucks in my opinion.

jacmmaxwell, I think you have two exellent products to chose from above. Like I said, I have had great luck with my 2 pairs of 509's and my wife has 509's and Habervision. They both have a quality product with plenty of lense choices and great people to buy them from on here (thanks 03rmking & Trax 2 Treadz). Vision is important, so using a quality goggle is money well spent.

I've been really happy with Oakleys.

I have a pair that are 7 years old that still work great.

I have blue and orange lenses. I prefer the blue.

I've tried Spys and Scotts and didn't care for them.

jacmmaxwell;2432584 Inot fog as soon as the sled stops to wait for the guy infront of me to make a move. ?[/QUOTE said:
get a sled that stays in front of the other guy...lol...seriously though...i have the habervision with a fan...and they are very good...i have the aviators from 509...and they are EXCEPTIONAL..in comfort and wide view...im going to get the fan for the aviators and order another set of aviators with the fan for my sons to wear when they visit..

Shaving Creme !! We went through this last year >>>>.

Really? I've tryed a few of the "no fog" treatments with no real good results. So what kind of creme do you use? Foam, gel?

How are you putting it on. Do you apply and wipe it off or do it like car wax, apply let dry then wipe off? I assume you would only need it on the inside.

We use foam. Been carryin the same can with us for years. A little dab will do. We just soak up a paper towel with foam and rub on the lense. I had my doubts when I was first told about this but it does work >>>>.

Hmm, well it's cheaper to try than a new set of goggles. Is this something you do every ride?

I was treating my goggles the night before I leave cause I drive 100 miles every weekend to get to the riding so I get 100% ready before I leave. You think this would be an issue?

In additiona to ALL of the different options above....something to take a look at is how much venting does your helmet have. Heeping your head cooler while riding makes a huge difference in how much you sweat...if you sweat less, your goggles are less likely to have fogging issues.

This is one of the reasons we switched to Downhill Mountain Bike Racing helmets (sixsixone and Giro are the 2 main brands).

Excellent helmets designed to protect from high speed downhill impact with trees (sound familiar)...and a bonus, they weigh about 2/3 what a MX style helmet weighs...and cost about 1/2 what the "name brand" MX style helmets cost.

good luck

After years of having the same fogging problem, I bought the Smith Knowledge OTG goggles w/the sensor mirror lens they are the only goggles I wore, I never fogged or had to change goggles at all, theyare fantastic and worth every penny! my only complaint is the way they attatch the battery pack to the strap. It would fall off once in awhile. I bought a set of the Haber Primas with the sensor fan at the slc show this year. We'll see how they work, so far the battery door keeps falling off, and I haven't even had them on the snow yet...
