Best bike for a youth build?

THE FX is great bike but sure is heavy.

About 50 pounds heavier than the trainer. Also heavier than all 450 sx bikes by a fair shot and just as tall. Actually within a few pounds of the 450FX.
While I agree that it is a great bike I am not sure that the weight makes it suitable for smaller riders.
I can sure see your point about the forks on the x trainer supper soft trail bike forks. Also all the 2strokes come with more intake issues -- carb freezing etc.
Unfortunately there is no good bike in that smaller size besides the Xtrainer

Yes but I can tell you this from riding many 450 FXs the 250 feels like it's a hundred pounds lighter while riding. It also feels a good bit thinner for smaller Riders. And the starter always works. My son can carry 5th through the powder.....You have to be a lot more aggressive if you are on a 2 stroke no matter what... Just depends on the rider... That beta was pinned at 7000 all the time in out snow...

TT-R 230 snowbike

Fitted an older TS 120 to a TT-R 230 for my 54 year old mother. We've had it out on 5 rides and she gets around really well, we were riding at 10k feet yesterday! Seat height ended up being about 6"+ lower than a big bike. Short riders that weigh less can get around surprisingly well on a set up like this.
