Best bike for a youth build?

No some people have a mototrax working on a 150r

Anyone done a TTR 230? It wouldn't be to speedy but I imagine it could make its way around on a good base. I have old 120 TS that I'm thinking about. My mother has a 230 and wants a snowbike that is way closer to the ground and she doesn't want to go fast or in deep snow with it.

Its heavy..........
But would probably putt around

I have a moto trac on a 150r for my 11 year old to ride. It has been bullet proof and a total riot for him to ride with the big boys this year. Did a JD jetting kit with a different needle, a 150 main, and a pod filter. Bike has run all year with zero starting issues. Sure beats having a kid on a sled!

can you post pics and maybe some measurements of swingarm height and seat height? I have a crf150r and a ttr230 thinking about custom build then stuff a 450 in it!

A track off of a 2moto is somewhere around 100" x 10" might work with a shortened sled skid. Track has a rounded profile with 2" paddles.

I have been looking into cramming a cr 250 motor into a cr 85 frame and putting or building a kit for it. Thought about building a kit based around the 2moto track. I think one problem with this track is it is very rigid. My 2moto was really hard to turn the track. Does this sound right? Maybe i am wrong. If anyone is interested this is the info they sent me.

Quote........
1. Tracks (RadiX P/N 10001): We have 6 tracks that were delivered to us with incorrect wear clips. Normally, our tracks have the steel wear clips with rounded ends for safety since the track clips are located at the outside edges of the track. These 6 tracks are identical to our standard track except that the track clips have square corners that create a bit of a safety hazard. They do not protrude beyond the ends of the track paddles. I can send you a photo if you desire to see what I’m describing. These tracks are 93 In. long x 10.8 in. wide with a 2.59 in. paddle pitch. Track rail spacing is the same as most snowmobiles (and the Camso Challenger tracks). I don’t know the width of the windows, but they are standard Camso window widths of the Challenger series tracks. Our new tracks sell for $482.04 US, but we would be willing to sell these tracks for $375.00 ea. As I mentioned in our telephone conversation, we do not have any of our standard tracks available – even at the $482 price, since they are all committed to kit production.

2. Drivers & Driveshaft: Our P/N 10036 Driver Sprockets at 10-tooth, 2.59” pitch and have a 1-1/16” (27mm) hex bore. These do not show up in our price list since they are sold as part of our P/N 10154 Drive Axle Assembly ($180.10) that includes two driver sprockets and the hex drive axle. We can sell the P/N 10036 Drivers separately for $35.33 ea. and the P/N 10035 Hex Drive Axle @ $109.50 ea.

TTR 230 swing arm bolt is about 2 inches lower with wheels on than o9 kx450 with TS kit.
One of my first home built kits i angled the end pipes that attach to swingarm bolt to lower seat height. believe i achieved about 1.5 inches lower than stock. Just need to install bigger motor into that chassis then mod a TS kit and should be 2.5 inches lower pretty easy.

I put a homemade kit on a Honda 250r 3-wheeler, 5" inches lower seat height than any of my other bikes. Put a modern engine in that frame and go.

beta ?

I thought the beta x train 'r might be a good snowbike for the inseam challenged, oops, hopped on one, seat height no better than most late model dirt bikes, feels a little more agile when riding, but its tippy toe for anyone under 6 ft.

I think its going to take some bike mods to make an intermediate sized snow bike. An older ktm 300 would be a good donor, shorten forks, lower seat...........ooops no magic button.

any thoughts on using a Beta EVO trials bike? The sport model has a decent seat and it is only 32" or about 6" less than a regular bike. plus they are super light the 200 2 stroke is only 150lb dry weight on the spec sheet, the 300 4 stroke is 160#.

The only issue is the right side drive but I know the Mototrax can be made right side by assembling it backwards as I discussed it with them. They just weld the bulkhead up in reverse and swap side plates. Also the Snowtech MX can be setup for right side drive as it has a full width jackshaft it just needs machined and a keyway cut on that side to move the gear over.

The 300 2 stroke looks kinda cool for a lightweight adult bike even it is tiny and light only issue I see is if the forks would be enough or they need swapped out for some bigger ones

Nice!
Now we are talkin. This falls in the catagory of perfect! I was thinking trials bike but know nothing about them, other than most really dont even have a seat. 160# 300 4 stroke would be a great platform to start with.
Thanks gary!
(By the way the fox rc3 is working awesome!)

Frick. This woould be perfect for a tween build. But no e-start. I was looking at the X-trailer for my kid\wife bike

so evidently the 2 strokes are right side drive but the 200 and 300 4 strokes are regular left side drive. They also have a 85 watt stator and a nice feature for kids is the 2 mode ignition mapping with soft and aggressive timing maps

This is a good vid of it, dave is short and it fits him perfect. Nice thing is hes on the forums a lot so he would be easy to ask questions about his history on them

The X trainer is 3" lower than a KTM 300 and the camso kit is 1" lower than most competition snow-bike kits , together as a snow-bike that should get it to about 4" lower than a KTM on a Timbersled. If my Math is correct:face-icon-small-con
The trails bike idea is smaller yet and may be a Idea for even smaller people , just remember trailsbikes have around 20ish HP X trainer a bit over 30Hp in a tuned down state , (the RR with the same engine is around 45 HP) My best guess and Outlaw Daves. Just a bit of extra info. And E start on the X trainer a must if it s for the Lady's they will love you for that alone , I know mine won't ride anything without a button, according to here -- why should I:face-icon-small-dis

I ran an xtrainer for my wife and kid at the beggining of the season.. the suspension is horrible... That being said we changed to a 250fx and it is much more capable in the snow and feels nimble... Pretty easy to make the same height...But I am sure it will feel heavier on the dirt but the suspension will more than make up for it. The air intake is way better for the snow also.
