Best bike for a youth build?

150r could be an option jetting wise but any of the 85 2 strokes for the smaller guys ... I would have picked one up for my son if any were available.. we are going to try him on the beta xtrainer this season and see how it goes... But he will never pick the thing up by himself.. remember there are so many options for the 100 and 85s that you can pump a ton a power out of them...

I have seen the kits for the 110 bikes but with 7 h.p stock and a big bore to get it up to equal to a stock 85 costing $1500+ I am wondering if a kitted 85 would be sellable.

Would be for me.. I would sell his sled if it was usable... You have to think power to weight. . My son is 90 pounds and is 9... If you throw 1500 at an 85 you will be pushing the power of a 125... I ride on it stock and think all the time this thing has balls;) an 85 is way lighter than the 110 just harder to jet I am sure in the snow..

Yep... It's a jump for a 9 year old to go to a 300 2 stroke but it is the next smallest from the 110 which is pretty useless here in Utah with our snow ... Still lighter though than his skidoo 440

So let's say there was a kit for a 85cc,100cc or 150f what kind of money would it be worth. Not some scab homemade job but all waterjet components tig welded chromolly frame with good quality components. A 121"track in depth of your choice most likely 1 1/4" -1 1/2".

3000 to 3500

I think a narrow track would be a must.
Like 10" or less.

If in the 121 range the 2.86 pitch 120 is lighter and turns easier.

I wish someone made a 100" track for this purpose.

The track has been the sticking point for me on building a youth bike.

I know brp made some atv tracks with 1.25"-1.5" lugs at one point.
Wonder if splitting those in half would be a decent size.

My thought was to potentially run a 125 motor in a 85-100 frame with the smallest smartcarb available. (125 smartcarbs are available)

Honestly the smallest smarty would most likely work for a snow application in an 85 or 100 since it is always full bore rpm... Especially with a pod filter

Rec motorsports makes a 90" long track but b it is only a small lug height but perfect thickness for less rolling resistance and is 10"so could be narrowed by 2"or so. The issue would be traction but in the old days we went alot of places with bolt on cleats. Not saying this is the ticket but a possible option to keep the belt thin. The other option is cutting and vulcanized stock tracks to the preferred size also doable.

Another track option could be a 120" timbersled track with 1" off each side making it 10.5" with shortened lugs and to reduce rolling resistance porting the center section for weight and resistance.

I think the key woukd be able to move to the 100, 125 so they could use it for a while ..
