Bend a steering post back straight?

So... can a person fix a bent steering post by bending it back close to straight?

How would one suggest to do this on an 07 IQ?

LOL damn dude, just buy another post you cheap *** mother ****er :D
Oh, I've got a post on order. Just don't know how long till it gets here. Want to ride it this weekend though so was thinking I could bend it back at least somewhat straight so it isn't such a PITA to ride standing up.

All this will be moot if my Edge is done by then though.

I can bend you a new one with conduit :) we can do 1" rigid if ya want bru

If you bend it back, it will be much weaker than stock.
I don't know why you couldn't, but I wouldn't trust it.
Pull it off the machine and bend it back.

Did that one time on my son's sled. Broke off out in the boonies. Bad day for all involved.

You are asking for it to break if you do...could get alot more expensive quickly. I wouldn't do it.

Eh, it would only be a few day fix. Probably won't even take it out to ride it till the new one gets here. I just hate having a sled sitting in the shed out of commission. It can be ridden as it sits, just not very comfortably.

i SAY GO FOR IT... BEND IT BACK AND FORTH A FEW TIMES...I don't want to be the only one that had to be towed out with no handlebars.... Ever try holding on to a gas cap for 12 miles of twisty, bumpy trail? IT SUCKS

I've seen one break and stick the sled wide open. You usually pull the throttle wide open when they break...

There good for about one bend and one streighten. Have done it several times over the years (all AC's) but never twice on the same post. Just get about 3-4 guys and slowly walk it back.

I bent the steering post on my YFZ last summer ...

I tried heating it up with a torch and bending it back, but no dice :(

I finally broke down and bought a $400 Chrome Molly replacement stem that was 3" longer then wound up spending like another $200 in extended cables just to get the damned thing to work.

Kinda retarded to spend $600 to get your bars raised 3" :(

but, the torch thing doesn't work on that so I don't know how well it'd work on a sled either.

i'll shut up now :)

would it be possible to bend it back and put a fiberglass resin in it or something of the sort to make it stronger

Don't do it

Don't do it man.

If you break it you'll be holding onto that gas cap like the earlier guy said.

You'll look like a drunk chic trying to ride the mechanical bull as you get pulled back to camp.

Is it a two piece shaft? I have one off of a 06 Fusion that had rider select on it that I'm selling if it will work for you?

I've spent more to raise it less on my XR650R, close to $800 to raise it 2.5"

Nope. Its the one piece IQ Raw post. Going to see if the dealer here in town knows how long its going to be till the post gets here. I might get lucky and have quick shipment. Would probably be the first time that ever happened from Polaris

I bent one on an edge, not a kink but a pretty good bend. Staightend it out the best I could and drove a slolid steel rod down it. It weight 10lbs. more but it never bent again. I thank it was a 5/8 rod, I cleaned the top of the post hole with a drill and had to use a 2lb. hammer all the way.
