belt sliping

I've been having problems with my belt sliping a bit. I keep getting black marks from my belt on my primary clutch. The last time I was in the mountains I was having a hard time keeping consistant rpm's. With the belt sliping is it causing this rpm problem. Ihave heard of people using emery cloth to scratch up there clutches a bit, is this a good idea. My rpm's would be fine for the first couple climbs and then they would start dropping down around 7500.

I don't think emery cloth is a good idea but fine grit Scotchbrite and warm soapy water is ok. I know some people use brake cleaner but this may have a negative effect on the belt itself. Sometimes a new belt will make and huge difference and make sure that the belt deflection is correct.

try heavier weights or a dr spring with less lb at shift out , if you have say a 140-330lb try something like cats purple 140-260lb
