Belt/Clutch Temps Higher on Trail than in Pow, Why?

Team adj. conversion with 140 240 spring, stock 36. Front , MDS and Cat Silver. Money set-up.

Here is what we have been installing. Rider weight will have some effect.
8000'-10,000'

Stock 2013 & 2014 belt drive 155 & 163
Primary 140-330(stock spring) 61 gram lightning weights
Secondary 120-200 (7043152)secondary spring 54/34-.46ER helix

Stock 2011-2014 chain drive 155-163
Primary 140-330(stock spring) 61-63 gram lightning weights
Secondary 120-200(7043152) secondary spring 46-32F ER
Gearing 19-46

Each set up requires the use of Green/White ex.valve springs (polaris 7041786-03)
Proper clutch alignment and belt deflection
11.5" center to center
Belt to sheave clearance of .020"-.040"
A sacked out primary will drop running RPM by 200.
Make sure your motor mounts are in good shape.
If you have a motor that needs internal attention, it will have runability issues with these kits.
Weak motors cannot sustain a constant power band load.

The $28 upgrade is a must when loading the motor with this clutching. Consistently being in the powerband builds heat.

A little more added info. Setup for 115 belt only

TRS: What RPM are you looking at with your clutching? I know that some people in sweden are blowing engines when beeing at 7800 rpm for too long... is it the powerband?

TRS, have you tryed this clutching at 2500'- 4500'? What do you think would work good for this elevation. Btw. My primary looks like the one that needs help lol. Belt only going about 2" from top of primary.

TRS- Care to take a stab at a TIED setup for an '11 pro 155?

Current: LR800 with carls clutching (stock primary spring, re-angled sheaves, 60-40-40 and gold/black sec. spring), AC powerclaw track, 62g, stock gearing but unsure if the drivers diameter are different for the Cat track.

So far some have said a red/black sec. spring with 73-55-.36 helix. I cannot find that helix on short notice but i have a 73-57-.46 i will try.

I am 220+gear riding up to 8500'.

Have not had the opportunity to ride at that elevation. With that said, I am running 9# of boost on an 800 with this setup at 8-10,000':
Primary
165-310 spring
74.4 lightning weights
Secondary
140-220 spring (undecided here, ran a 120-220)
46-32F ER helix
20-46 gearing

Played with one for two days, ran out of tuning parts. I made an economic decision, "I'm not going any further with the Tied". I have spent countless hours and thousands of dollars on helix, springs and weights tuning the TSS-98 and TSS-04. Not going to spend it on the tied.
Computer generated clutch kit/setups don't make it in the real world. Parts and time on the hill do.
If someone wants to give me an open check book, I'll work with it.:face-icon-small-hap

Curious how many guys are running the trs setup and what elevation you are running at. I'm running at 2000ft around home and 6000ft in the mountains and wondering if this set up would work for me with the proper weights or if I'd wasting my time. Also thinking stock exhaust valve springs should be fine my elevations.

I am 2200' and 6-8000', current setup works well enough in the mountains and i am not really concerned at home since we never have enough snow to need anything past 1/2 throttle. I do re-weight to 67.7g at home though.

2011 pro 155 LR800 (300miles) PC 2.25 track (stock gearing), PAR head w/12.5 domes, green/yellow ves springs i believe.
Stock 140/330 primary spring with 62g dalton adj.
Stock Sec. with carl's clutching (gold/blk spring and 60-40/42-40 helix)

I swapped a TIED in on the hill with back to back runs (team red/blk and 73-55/.46 helix).

Found the track speed to be identical (TIED may have had 1 or 2 mph higher but was tough to say) but the TIED seemed more responsive on/off the throttle. I kept the TIED on.

I will be trying a 57 finish on the helix next weekend at the same place. I have also swapped in 13.6 domes but have yet to ride it. Will be running Terra alps remote t-stat aswell.

I also run the Tera alps t - stat. I'm always 10-14 degrees cooler then same sled same days all the time.
