Avy safety is now more affordable to the masses. Not that my life is not worth 1200 bucks...but I thought they were gouging people at those prices for what looked like a relatively simple system.

No offense to anyone that shucked out the big bucks either. Thanks very much actually! for helping them recoup R&D costs and for sending the message that these things are going to sell in big numbers.

Glad to see BCA got into this and is offering this great advancement in technology at a very affordable price.

Click on the link below and hit the "contact us" button, tell them you want to order one and give them your name and address. They'll confirm that your on the waiting list for the pack. Expected arrival is November. Hopefully this rings true..Didn't cost a dime to get on the list, so worth a shot. Act now, I think numbers are limited on the first run.

Hopefully this is deemed appropriate for this forum as I'd like to see my fellow COLORADO sledders get the best protection available. We do have one of the highest avy death tolls in the US.

I preordered mine through Snow Big Deal. I actually have 4 to order from them (hopefully I get a deal!). The only catch is that BCA is only going to produce preordered packs and they won't be in until sometime in Decemeber. Hopefully it pans out.

If past performance on meeting production dates holds true...do not expect to get these packs before next year :(

I certainly hope they do, they are really nice people and having more packs on the market will help drive prices down. But don't be surprised.

Hope it pans out and turns out to be a great product. $500 should put it within reach of many more peeps, and that's good. Instead of upgrading to a new sled this year, I took the plunge and got an ABS Escape 30. Upgraded myself, so to speak.

I so bad want a ABS Escape 30 as well but I am having a VERY hard time spending that kind of money. I know it is worth it, don't get me wrong. Up until a couple of years ago I had never even seen an avalanche or even been through an area that had slid. But a couple of years ago I had a pertty good slide chase me down a hill. And ever since then I have been wanting one. My wife wants me to get one as well but she is hesitant on the price too. Just a lot to spend. Have not heard any bad things about ABS.

From what i heard at snowshow the BCA packs for this year will not have a built in hydration. They are supposed to have them next year. I really want one of these packs as well but i might wait till next season. I think that buy then there will be more options on the market and prices may come down on ABS and Snowpulse. I 'm leaning toword the snowpulse 30L highmark it is truly awsome functionaly and physically.

Not to give you TOO much crap, but seriously? The pack could save your life & you're worried about a straw?

Hydration systems don't work worth a crap anyhow in the winter.

I got my abs for 800something last year & was SO glad I did, the BCA guy harrassed me like a carnie about how I should have waited... so if I die in an avy on december 10th & the pack ships on the 15th, at least it is a good price right?

The carnie told me it was going to be out LAST december (same with the tracker 2, november supposedly)

Something coming next year won't save my life THIS year!!!!

that said, I ordered one from Cade as well for Abby, I hope they actually come in December.

Put my name on the list at the True North booth at the Denver snow show. Hope it arrives in mid December as I was told.:(

Yep, after talking to SnowBigDeal at the snow show, and knowing the track record of BCA for releasing their products (Tracker 2, anyone?), decided to pull the trigger on one of the Snowpulse units.

:D

get a pack...no matter what brand it WILL save your life one day.
I hope I never have to use it though. Ever.

"If a person is caught in an avalanche, a mistake has been made". The pack is only for damage control after that mistake.

We are in the process of setting up a dealership with BCA, Ortovox and other backcountry retailers. I should know within the next week with approval. I don not see any problems. We should be able to compete with of the vendors out there. I will keep everybody posted. Our new website is being developed.... peakbackcountrysupply.com I goes nowwhere as we are in development. We are currently with a numer of vendors for eveything you need from camping, hunting, fishing etc. Thanks!

I have the ABS 30 and luckily I got a good deal on it. It has a hydration system but unless you put hot water in it the lines freeze, regardless of the insulated tube.

I throw a standalone insulated 70 oz camelback bladder in whatever pack I'm using. Very portable. Just blow the water back out of the tube after you drink and close valve so water doesn't get forced back into it. Works fine for me all day everyday. I was told mid November on the BCA pack from TA today, but I have heard fairy tales before.

Yeah, but I think your liquid has some stuff that doesn't freeze mixed in it.;);):beer;:beer;

The ABS is expensive but you aren't getting gouged by one person. The exchange rate, the Hazardous mat. shipping, trigger assy, etc make them pricier. The other bag I saw at the show, IMO, had a cheap pull handle. Other than that I really didn't look at them closely. I was too busy getting my next piston supplier connection hooked up.;) Regardless of brand, everybody should have one for the oh crap moment if it ever happens. I know I don't ever want to have to search for a person again, it really ruins the mojo for the day.

Didn't say i wasn't going to buy BCA because it didn't have a hydration system just passing along info that was told to me at the show(Most all pics i'v seen have it included aswell as the display models that they brought). I explained that i liked the snowpulse for functionality and physical quality. I did still get on the list for the BCA with TNA. Just questioning when they will be released.

That being i don't want to have anyone wait to buy on my account. Simply trying to make the point that the market for all company pricing may be changing in the near future.

PM me, I might have a deal for ya. I've got an ABS Escape 30 and after looking at another bag up close for the first time I really really like it better for what I'm looking for. Snowpulse Highmark. Just fits my pack needs a little better (I tend to be a pack rat and bring ALOT of stuff)
