Bad idea????

so my 2010 m8 has about 20 or so miles on it and we got grass drags this weekend i was gonna run my buddied 07 m1000 thats all modded but he sold it tonight iwanna run but not so sure about running my brand new sled tell honest opinions good bad or whatever i dont know what to do

I would get 100 miles on it first. They are TIGHT from the factory and need some good break in.

Isnt the break in supposed to be on a jack stand this year? That what i heard from a guy that got a 2010 HCR.

A brand new sled?????????? Are you crazy! Break it in right so you will have years of fun out of it.

I would do it.

If your worried about it do some hard heat cycles without your belt on before the drags, if you have no where to ride.

But personally I think you will be fine. I rebuilt my ktm the night before a desert dirt bike team race, only had one heat cycle on the new cylinder and piston before racing it, and my first lap of the race took 50+minutes, lots of deep whoops wide open too, I had no problems then or after. Diffenently got the rings set well haha

I thaught the stand break in was a must for 2009. The dealer asked me if I wanted it done to my 2010. They didn't say it was manditory. What's supposed to be done to the 2010's !!!????

i feel like a ***** but im not runnin it maybe next year i heard a guy ran a brand new out the box in bozeman and did good but he must have more money than me cause this sled is gonna get rode hard enough this winter

my dealer told me not to mix the tank like the book says just to splash some oil in the tank then fill the prem. and to ride it not to be easy but not to be too hard on it but i still needed to RIDE it

They run a lot better after they get a 100 miles on them, new Cats are very tight,

i just grass dragged my 09 hcr this year and i came second in the stock mountain 800 class. got beat by a 2010 m8 by a tenth of a second. he had no problems running his. polaris even gave us a brand new assault to race that day, we cut the stickers off the bars before we ran it but i put it out early, haha. but its only 500 feet whats the worst that could happen? haha..

2010 Break in

I have had 20 some sleds and I break them how I am going to ride them never had a problem if its going to break it I want it to happen wile its under warranty

that new H.O. engine needs a good break in before running it full throttle. with only 20 miles i wouldnt do it... just leads to problems in the future. but thats just me

Run it. I have ridden mine like I stole them for years right out of the box. BTW being that its a new HO engine has nothing to do with break in. All engines break in the same.
