AXYS vs DOO Comparison

As far as mileage they're going to be close, we've compared in our group and they've been the same at fill up. The Pol has the bigger tank so they really don't have to pack gas unless they want to.

I rode a Summit in 2013, Pro in 14, 15 and back to Doo in 16. In tuff snow they both suck gas.

150 range was the non HO
159-160.4ish is the HO engine.

HP was increased in the new Axys HO engine.

I thought I read the 800 etec made like 165 hp on the dynotech dyno but only made like 155 hp on ski doos own dyno and the new 850 etec is making 165 hp on ski doos dyno so makes a guy wonder if that was really the case if the 850 will make close to 175 hp on the dynotech dyno

Comparing your summit 13 and 16 years compared to your Pro 14 and 15 years, could you comment on reliability/ mechanical issues?

by everything i've read and seen the poo rear skid is a step above the doo it gets up on the snow better (holtz)
i ride with both
as others have said ride both from my experience it's rare for someone to feel comfortable on both
of course with time one can adapt to any sled

It sounds like you have gotten to ride them both? Can you give us more details on side by side comparison? I am also torn between the 174 axys and 165 'Doo.

The "on paper" comparison does little justice to how these two will fair in the field.

The Axys is going to remain a more rigid, less forgiving 'track car" feel and ride.

The Doo will be a more forgiving ride Axys with slightly more power. A "sports car for dentists" ride. (I kid I kid...but it will be less sporty feeling than the Axys even if more capable on paper)

That's how I'd buy - what kind of feel do you prefer? What kind of rider are you?

And yes, the Axys had a few issues this season but they are all minimal in the grand scheme of things...

bret rasmussen said that same thing on facebook. the dynotech number for the 800 was 163.9. doo's website even advertised their 800 as being 163.9 (up until a week ago when the 850 was put on the site). bret then said that the 850 is a full 10hp over the 800, and after dynotech gets one on their dyno, we will see numbers to compare (who knows what it will actually be). maybe it will be 165, maybe 175.

its all a bunch of marketing crap. the one thing i actually believe from it all is that the 850 has 10 more hp than the 800.

I am in Colorado and I am the only Axys in a sea of Ski Doos. I rode '13 and '14 Pros previous to the Axys. I have never missed a day of riding on any of them due to reliability issues and I ride about 40 days a winter. I rode the '15 XM, '16 Cat and my '14 Pro all on the same weekend, extensively. I bought the Axys based on the Pro being better than the Doo. The Axys is worlds better than the Pro. The Doos are stuck more and never leading when the Axys is in the trees. Just my personal experience but I also think the Axys is by far the best sled on the snow. 50 cc's and a face lift isn't really going to change the game.


Clearly the Doo is a great sled, so is the Cat but, I think both are way behind Polaris currently.


Only thing I find wrong with the Axys are the weak front a -arms. Only thing that needs changed IMO. Though I probably will try the SLP pipe and can for an extra 10hp and 15 lb weight loss.


You do not have to spend $15k to get one either. There are '16s for $11k. Exact same sled except for all the options added to the LE to drive the price up. After what most have seen of the 2.6 tracks, I wouldn't splurge for the 3" either.

Throwing hp numbers to compare these two sleds or 3 if you throw the cat in as well is just speculation until you run all three on the same dyno same day that I'd like to see

Your numbers from dynotech are inflated on the ho poo motor.. Here was the average from three runs on latest shootout .

Now if you add some pipe mods you can get to your number but need some $$

As for comparison dynotech just Had a broken in 16 800 Etec that did 164.5.. That is .8hp more than a 15model

There dyno is extremely accurate from run to run even years apart.. This should make the 850cc come in at 175hp when they dyno it

I believe they modified the timing on that sled.

Don't get your hopes up.

If one of my sledding brothers/sisters has a sled that runs strong and reliably... then I'm STOKED!!! Regardless of mfg.

I could give a rats azz what brand ANYone in my riding group or my riding family here on SW is riding... as long as they enjoy it.... If a problem arrises, I'll try my darndest to help them out.

I have said the same thing since I first saw the new doo it's got the same angle of attack as the old xtra 12 xlts. It will be interesting on how it gets up on the snow.

I really like what cat did with the mountain cat drop and roll with 8 tooth drivers and a 3" track as well as narrowing the boards

All the cat guys are hollering because they didn't get anything new, but I think that will make a big difference in how they get up and go in a pin and wiggle situation. What I don't understand is why they only did it in a snowcheck only sled...

1 & 3 look the easiest to ride. I know the new XM's handle pretty well and can imagine the new REV 4 will be better but looking at the pictures they look front heavy. Maybe that is why they have done what they did with ski stance, tmotion and flex edge.

The skidoo looks like it has the least track on the ground. Probably due to more of it being used to to cover the more vertical distance on the attack angle.
