Axys Track Pitch Wrong?

Hey Guys,

So I just picked up a snowcheck 163 3".....I have to say, flat out amazing. Having ridden a few pros since 2012, I can't believe how much better all around the axys is. Literally still stunned after two full days on the machine. Now the bad part, the sled was making an awful grinding sound when I took it out for the first day. Sounded as if the chaincase was about to fall apart. Upon inspection the extrovert driver was missing the windows, aka pushing on the inside of the track. We tried a few things with alignment etc but to no avail. Has anyone seen this issue? I of course will be taking it to the dealer, it looks like the track pitch is off to me. The introvert and extrovert drivers are lined up, centers on the teeth match...

Did it make noise all the time or just when the track was ratcheting?

It was making the noise all the time, better at speed, awful slow, especially when going downhill or making turns on hardback.

When we flipped the sled on its side and turned the track by hand the driver wasn't even entering the windows. OK ok so I rode it all day, I couldn't resist. It certainly is getting better but still not right at all. Here's a couple of pics.

As you can see the driver is not centered, it is forcing itself through the non leading edge of the window.

There is an issue with track alignment. Have the same problem with my snow check sks with the 2.6. Took it to dealer and Polaris told them to replaced the drive shaft and did not give them an explanation why. It helped a little but it's still not right. Polaris had no answer for dealer after the drive shaft replacement did not fix the issue. The tech adjusted the track so the driver would not rub on the Side of the window and told me to run it.

Take it to your dealer and have them start a case file on it. The more files started poos going to have to fix the problem.

I believe it is running slightly on the right of the tunnel/bulkhead. I could easily just pound the Centre driver into place if it was just a centering issue but as you can see there is a window issue.

Mine looked the same as yours. Dealer also set up another sled while mine was there and it had the same problem just not quite as bad as mine. They notified Polaris of the brand new one that they just set up with 0 miles on it having the same issue.

I believe the ones that come with a 3" track are a 3 pitch and the 2.6" track is a 2.86 pitch. Any chance they could have put the wrong drivers on? Or are the driveshafts totally different to prevent this from happening?

2.6 has the alumum shaft, 3.0 has the steel shaft. Not possible to mix them up. It would have to be a driver from a 2012 to fit the 2016 3" shaft , then it would have the 2.86 driver. But it would be an 8 tooth so I don't think it would fit in the bulkhead then.

The snow checked sks with the 2.6 has the steel drive shaft the pro axys with the 2.6 has the aluminum drive shaft both a 2.86 pitch the 3" has a 3.00 pitch. The tech and I are thinking either the drive shaft is running/installed crooked or the tunnel is crooked to the bulk head.

Oh wow, that center driver is definitely the wrong pitch! I guess that could be an easy mistake with all the track options that they have! Just have the dealer order parts right away and not wait for authorization. You will just end up getting a new shaft, drivers are not available separately! If you want to ride it just take more pictures and cut the center driver out of it and run the track no looser then spec.

SKS and assault also have a steel shaft with 2.86 drivers.

The 3" has a steel driveshaft that looks the same as my 2012, so unless they put the wrong drivers on.....

Drive shafts are back ordered. Only way I received one is by having my dealer file a claim then I called poo with the claim number and explained that I had a trip planned and need a shaft asap. There was a new shaft delivered to the dealer with in 3 days.

The driver on my new drive shaft was centered the tech double check it.

So I just looked under my sled and the driver looks centred fore and aft in the window. Could it be such a tight tolerance, and now after 2 rides it has stretches to fit? I will adjust tonight and ride tomorrow and see what happens. Also yes the extrovert does not seem centered left to right on the shadt.

Actually looking at that closer it just looks as if it the center driver isn't centered or maybe the outer's are off little? If they would have put a 2.86 pitch 7 tooth it the driver would be smaller and would stick out almost 1/4" less and not to mention that even tho the pitches are different they would both be evenly spaced because there are 7 teeth, the 2.86 pitch is just in a smaller diameter!
