liking what you said about a quieter muffler
an chance of getting a DB reading ?
i was thinking about starting a thread about just that
it'd be great if us consumers could get an idea about
the noise levels of each kit
thanks
I am planning to be tested (stock and turbo sleds) as soon as we have snow and will definitely report back. It's a very important subject to me being that I work under a permit and have to co-exist with the forest service in the best manner possible. On a personal level, I used to be a huge fan of loud everything. Snowmobiles, motorcycles, pickups, and anything else with an engine. HAHA as I've aged a bit, things have definitely changed due to many factors. I now understand the importance of doing everything we can individually in our control to put out a positive vibe and keep riding areas open. Also, being on the snow almost every day working with people on sleds, I'm off of my sled a good portion of the day and have a lot more appreciation for a quiet sled.
Here's a bit more info on the Colorado sound law-
"Snowmobiles
‐SAE J2567 is the procedure used to measure sound levels of stationary snowmobile exhaust systems in
Colorado.
No snowmobile operated in the state shall emit more than the following levels:
‐Manufactured on or after 7/1/1972 and before 7/2/1975……..90db(a)
‐Manufactured on or after 7/2/1975………………………………………..88db(a)
‐No new snowmobile can be sold that does not meet state sound levels unless it meets federal noise
emission.
