I am running the stock ho head with 2 deg. timing key.
-2 deg key I assume?
I've been thinking about doing that, I'd just like to be able to back off on the octane a touch.

Mixing that much stuff sounds like a drag. I have run my nytro up to 20 lbs on occasion and all the time @18 for 4000 miles. One thing NOT mentioned here is that av gas stays fresh when in contact with the air whereas race gas must be used up once opened, and loses octane the older it gets. I too go to the airport with jerry cans and sled and fill up. When we talk about elevation, think how high the planes fly, much higher than 6-8000'. Av gas is great, and I ran it in my high comp. big bore with NOS, with nary a problem for 7000 kls 02Local builder (VOHK) actually specifically is recommending a mix now, 5 gal av, 5 gal 91, 1 gal toluene for his BD RG kit customers (two guys I know are running 12 on that mix)
I can get race fuel for less than the toluene that matches the octane, (it's only 114 & is $10/ gallon here) but it's really easy to find, everyone has a Sherwin Williams around them I'd think, so that's a pretty easy way to do things.
I'll post what I get for psi max out of straight AV gas after the weekend. I'm running 20-25% 116 right now & I get det on rare occasion as I back SLIGHTLY off from full throttle toward the top of a big pull. WFO... no problem at all.
some airports are going to this...you must enter the tail # of your aircraft to even start the pump, and from what i was told a lot of airports throughout the country will go to this if they have 24/7 card pumps! My resources are pretty reliable beings i own a plane and its flown by my other two partners quite frequently all over the upper midwest.
av & race have the same qualities, there's no magic bullet in avgas that keeps it fresh longer. The standards are just higher in the av industry. One thing NOT mentioned here is that av gas stays fresh when in contact with the air whereas race gas must be used up once opened, and loses octane the older it gets.
Hey Guy's I have been running Av for the last 4 rides and am a bit worried about all the deposits it leaves behind... The top of my pistons actually have a layer of chit on them and 4 clean round spots on the piston corners... It's really weird should have taken a picture of it... Might be because of the sled running like $$$$hit most of the day because of all the steam it is pulling in my over vented hood. I am getting a carbon fiber hood with a plenum that I am going to pipe in to the turb, should be sweet and hopefully I will be able to get a little more consistency.
Have any of you guy's running it found it to be harder on plugs, and what AF seems to be optimal for this fuel. A buddy of mine thinks it should be ran a bit hotter to burn all the lead out of it. I've been sticking with 12.4 ish seems to work great when I'm not inhaling steam... Tough to complain about over the hood pow tho
Oh I have been running straight 100LL sticking with 9 or 10 pounds around 7-8K with no probs.. Also would be cool to find out more about -2deg timing key and running similar boost levels with a 50/ 50 mix...

I have '08 m8 BD RG with intercooler & fan and ride at 10,000 to 11,000 feet. My previous 6 days of riding this season I started mixing and I ran a 50/50 mix of 91 & 100LL at 10.5-11lbs of boost & never had any det sensor issues. My EGT temps went up about 50 degrees in some spots when I added the pump gas back into the mix, so I added a little more fuel to compensate. It starts better on cold days & runs a little better at low rpm now with the pump gas mixed in which is a nice bonus also.
