Avids ratcheting Nytro Timbersled??

A pair of these worked pretty good. Like I mentioned a guy could grind them down, but I found if you worked at it you could cut them pretty flush.

This is a quick vid from last year from whenI was flexing these. The vid kind of sucks but I was not pulling very hard to do this. 240 hp behind this is a different story.

Avids are the best, i just didnt have luck with this power claw style in the pics. If its on the shaft I would just try what I did and see if they flex. If they dont your styling. If they do flex I would probably switch before you get them installed and before it snows. Just my opinion.
It may have been an isolated set.

Well I just ran into this same issue with 270hp Impulse Turbo nytro. 162 powerclaw, timbersled rear and avid PC drivers. First day of testing the new build and its ratching. The extroverts were flexing as you have found Brutus. PTO side spun on the drive shaft as well. Avid is sending new drivers on Monday and we are going with the full extro's and cutting the nubs.

It appears as Brutus found that the extrovert portion is not supported well enough on the power claw drivers.

I have mounted this drivers on my Nytro turbo and just mounted Timbersled 4 wheel anti stab kit.
I hope i not get this trouble with mine, if i get this trouble i hope Avid will send me some new full extro's .

Guys, Here's something to keep in mind. All nitros with a 2.5" track have less than .5" clearance between the front heat exchanger and the paddle tips. The anti-ratchet points are .75" long. If you run your track lose enough that it is able to balloon away from the driver .5", you will be hitting the stationary heat exchanger with your track.

Boosted sleds with 70-80 MPH track speeds stretch the tracks when they are forced around the 7" diameter driver. The track coming forward in the tunnel doesn't want to turn and follow the driver and will lift off the main wheel. After all that is what anti-ratchet drivers are about.

The track hitting anything stationary puts a lot of shock on the drive system, drivers, chain, etc. If you are running the track so loose that you ratchet, that means that you are hitting the heat exchanger the full .25" and bending over the paddles so that they can go by. If you ever put playing cards on your bicycle spokes when you were young, you know what I mean.

If you are running big horsepower, you need to tighten up your tracks more than normal.

We just set up an EZ ride and we set the track up with 3/4" of deflection at 20lbs of pull in the center of the track. This is the EZ ride spec. This is quite a bit tighter than what I've been running for the last few years. I've got the new Avids for my Nypex and I'm going to run the track at about the same spec. Hopefully there aren't any issues. I've got a zillion miles on the old style drivers on my Nytro with no issues.

Ok, so I replaced the power claw avids with just the regular avids and clipped the little nubbings on the track. Also installed the anti ratchet shaft. Problem is solved, I am 99% sure it was the drivers (extro part) flexing. As mentioned before my rails were no where close to the drivers and did not have issues with stock drivers. Even looking at the anti stab I dont think it will be of much value on my set-up but is extra insurance as you never know. So I guess I may have just had a bad set that flexed (persoally I think the extros should be solid down to the hub for strength on this design) as I am the only one who apparently had this issue but I am glad Avid replaced these as I can get on a spring ride now!

This is the ones I had on.
