Avalanche bags

Yes for the handle, no for the blade. There is a designated pouch on the inside for the shovel blade. If you look closely at the bottom picture, the blade storage is on the inside of the outer portion of the bag under the handle and probe.

i was at the website and the new Highmark Pro and Prime both say external shovel and handle pouch?

Sorry, I am talking about the PITCH that I have pictured. You are correct about the PRO and PRIME. The VEST also has complete external shovel storage. Sorry for the confusion. Below are photos of the PITCH, VEST and PRO front and back.

All the research Ive done has lead me to the Highmark bag, Thanks you have great info. Wheres the best dealer and price?

Will do. the only difference from the pro and Prime are the twin bags. What the preference?

Actually, the PRO only has one bag. But it is packed through the straps of the pack to inflate into a giant horseshoe shape and will tuck you inside of it. The PRIME bag is only in the top section of the pack and contains the Removable Airbag System. I think the U design of the bag in the PRO could prevent additional trauma and the additional surface area is not a bad thing.

Hey Matt, sorry to side track but where is this picture taken?

Hey Bob, order the darn bag already.

Back to the regular scheduled programming.

Snowpulse vest

I have 5 rides with the snowpulse Highmark vest now and love it, any avi bag are extra weight over a regular back pack but the vest distributes it better, it's nice having pockets on the chest, I have the body armor and shoulder pads so I dont have to wear my tek vest any more. And it still has a good amount of storage.

However the Rib protection on the vest is nothing compared to the Tek Vest from the reports, SRC just smacked and cracked a rib with a substandard vest.

I use the newest version of the Avivest, and I'm not sure how they can even call that impact protection. Those flimsy little pieces of plastic and foam wouldn't do much. They came right out before I even used it. Vest goes over the tek vest nicely and is extremely comfortable. I feel much more confident and protected this way.

But depends on your riding style I guess.

Snowpulse Highmark Pitch

I just bought the Highmark Pitch. I believe it's the lightest bag you can buy at 5.2 lbs. Next is the Wary 23 L AviPack at 5.75 lbs, and BCA Float Throttle 22 at 5.8 lbs. Next is the ABS Powder 5 at 6.1 lbs, and the Powder 15 at 6.3.lbs. The Powder SB (snowmobile) 15 is slightly heavier at 6.6 lbs. The Snowpulse Pro and Prime are some of the heavier bags at 7.1 lbs.

Yes, thanks for that current info. When I bought my BCA throttle a couple years ago it was the lightest bag on the market. Now, if ABS can ever get their CF bottle US certified they would jump in the lead.

Actually , the carbon fiber canister on the ABS only saves 230g, or 0.51 lb, so the pitch would still be lighter. And snowpulse has a carbon canister waiting for approval too, so most likely the difference would stay about the same.

I finally decided to go get one. After much reasearch, i chose the Mammut Ride Protection pack. Their line of 'protection' packs uses the snow pulse techmnology airbags that are packed within the pack sholder straps and forms a hailow around your neck and is designed to not only keep your head above the slide but also doubles as trauma protection to your neck and head area. A bit more expensive than other bags, but i am not at all disipointed with it. Nice, quality bag.

Thank god i havent needed it yet.

It looks like the Mammut Light Protection bag weighs 6.06 lb. That makes it a really good option if you want the wrap around airbag. The Highmark Pro, which is the only airbag in the Snowpulse Highmark lineup to use the wrap around bag, weighs 7.1 lb.

Does she have an external shovel and handle storage?

The PITCH airbag from HIGHMARK by SnowPulse is a great small pack. Quality construction and multiple adjustment points make this a great fitting and comfortable pack for a variety of people varying in size. There is designated internal shovel blade, handle, and probe storage as well as an external shovel handle storage for longer handles. We have been demoing these units to Mountain Skillz our clients/students throughout this season and the consistent response has been, "So comfortable, I forgot I was wearing it."

Always happy to answer any questions.
