Av gas or Race gas

question
is the lead in av gas dangerous for my health when I get it on my hands or breath in some exhaust fumes?

I think I would be more concerned with the cancer causing carcinagenics like benzene and tolulene. Might put lead in your pencil for the Big Hawg Phatty Challenge, hahaha.

THANK YOU!!!! I did some dyno work on my race car a couple years ago and would never use av gas again. It simply is not designed for high rpm or rapidly changing loads, but instead for constant LOW rpm. The switch from av gas to VP fuels CMP was worth 42 HP with no other changes, and on an engine that only pulls to 7500 rpm, not 11,000 like most yammys... with all the money we spend to go sledding whats a few dollars to get some extra power and not blow it up?

then you should add some brake clean too!! for even MORE power! Solvent goes in the parts cleaner, race fuel goes in the sled.......

So you switched to an oxygenated fuel (VP CMP) and didn't change ANYTHING and made more power? Don't blame the fuel. Blame the tuner....

What fawkin difference does it make,,,,we all know that for maximum performance,we'll run full race fuel, that's already been established, but for the insurance and cheaper fuel,AV gas works.

Nobody's disputing that race gas isn't better than AV gas,it just works for the performance level that people are comfortable with. Let this die,,,,for the love of God.

Nice! Someone knows their race fuels! what I meant was no other changes other than the fuel, the A/F had to be readjusted obviously... yes, its oxygenated; the point I am trying to make is that there is a whole industry devoted to motorsports fuel if you want to take advantage of it. Like most of us, I spend a lot of time working and not enough time riding and racing, so I want to make the most of it when I get the chance, not fixing broken engines.

hey linc a few years ago you could buy Toulene any where but all the crackheads runnied that . Its a major ingredent in meth so good luck finding it in a small town .

and THAT would be why i can't find contact cement thinner ANYWHERE the last couple years......couldnt figgure out why nobody had it on the shelf anymore, thanks.

oxygenated fuel (VP CMP or ulitmate 4 )same thing is on a WAY diffrent page then just C12 ,to the point where its banned in AMA races . in moto cross bikes it usally gives 1 hp per 125 cc on a stock motor . it does have huge draw backs though after a half season we pulled appart a bike running it and the valves were coated in a crystalized grey compound that was rock hard . pretty much needed to be ported just to clean the crap off. plus you need to re do youre jetting cause ur adding oxygen through the fuel. it also only has around 100 octane and cost an arm and a leg .....o and try and stand near something running U4 IT STINKS !

ps av gas rules lol

Looks likes everybody has googled this and read the same articles on fuel now everybody is an expert.I wouldnt listen to the guys that run av with no problems cause they must be magicians or sumthin too keep there sleds from blowin up.
