Av gas or Race gas

30,000' lmao! Dont most PLANES have a ceiling of like 14,000'? Sound familiar?

Avgas is so dry, I just filled up my barrel a week ago, and its DRY!!!!

G@D D@MN F@@K@NG DRY AVGAS!!

exactly that's why it works well on sleds as the elevation is fairly similar to what it was designed for. only guys who have problems with avgas are the ones who think they can replace 108 with 100. lots of good engine builders use av. price per litre is $1.40 vs. $2.50 for race so it is quite a difference. this is in the Edmonton area.

The last time I was huffing 100LL, it was so dry, my nasal cavity looked like I had a bad coke habit....:D

Av Gas uses lead = bad for the environment and the areas that we are all heading out to, ie. it can end up in the snow, in the snow melt, in the rivers; lakes and the fish that we spend our summers chasing. Normal gas that you buy at the pump, and race gas has additives to replace the lubrication properties of the lead that used to be in the pump gas.

Sorry for sounding like an environmentalist... a friend was just diagnosed with Mercury poisoning from eating too much Tuna at sushi... so been looking at the food chain a little bit more lately.

Learn some facts, because someone may actually believe you. race has as much or more lead than avgas.

And lead is a lubricant good for the valves on the 4 bangers. I run straight av gas up to 18 lbs $1.36 @ the airport...and $1.20 in Valemount airport;)

Why would you want to put the cheapest fuel in your sled? Go and read fuel sites about av gas, they say right there not to stick it in your sled, you guys are crazy, i'll pay for the C12, if you can't afford the gas, then how the hell did you come up with the cash for the turbo?

When I looked into it, I understood that the leaded Race gas was available, as was the unleaded, I was under the impression that the leaded gas was not used as often. If I'm wrong with that, then sorry.

Tell me where I can get some c12 in Palmer Alaska .......

Why should I run C12 if its not needed? Just to say I run race gas? It dont make you go any faster you know.......?

Hey I got a new fuel called C65 it's $85 per gallon PM me and we can get some on the way makes C12 look stupid.

Very simmered... I'm just not sure why people post stuff they have no clue about?

Talk about "vapor lock".... :D

Yea, 100LL Avgas is HIGHLY suseptible to "vapor lock"!!!!!! That's why it is used in planes. So they will "crash" out of the sky when they stall!!! LOL

I guess I haven't been high enough in elevation, only around 13000' or so, to experience any "vapor lock".

I'm new to the boost game, but was told that leaded fuel burns up the A/F sensor in the exhaust pipe...is this not true?

thanks,
modsledr

So, it sounds like it is more about preference than anything else. As I said I have no experience with Avgas. I have been reading internet articles about it and they don't seem to agree either.
As for me, if it is not broken, there is no need to fix it. I do like the way my sled runs with 50/50 race/pump mix.

alrevedup out

Leaded fuel will make the sensors burn out faster but i have seen some that last alot longer than expected.

We'll, i better switch to C12 or 16 since i read on the internet its better, I cant believe i never vapor locked in two years on avgas. :p
