Av 100LL Question

whats the highest safe boost on av gas 12lbs or are there people doing 14lbs on av gas and I'd really like that web page with all the prices on av gas in differnt states thanks

On a pump gas kit I doubt it is over 9 unless you are sledding at real high altitude. Plus on a pump gas I believe there is a fueling problem like you cant supply enough with just 2 injectors. I could be wrong though

hey guys, am running a twisted race gas extreme kit on my 09 m8 at 1750ft...

9psi and i mix it 75% 112 and 25% 91...no det lights...

might be turning it down to 6 psi and running 50/50 so my drum lasts a little longer ;(

then am gonna search for 100ll...drum of race gas is 850 here and that was from the polaris dealer with no tax or shipping charges...BRUTAL!

what kind of boost you think you can run at my elevation on straight 112?

would love to get a turbo pipe or stock 2010 m8 pipe to try on my sled, but there is no feedback on the pipes on twisted sleds, and no way to really put a small intercooler like dubbs has done on it...bummer ;(

I get mine from the airport here in Grande Prairie no questions asked. I bring in a 200l drum as they don't like it if you bring in jerry cans. Last time I filled the drum it wasn't much more expensive than supreme.

I was running 8 - 9 lbs last season with a 50/50 mix of av and premium. One thing i noticed when i switched from race mix to av mix mid season, the air temps did go up, at the same boost levels. This season i will be running the mini intercooler so hopefully that will help with the temps and maybe run around 10-11 lbs at 7000 ft on straight av. I think that it must burn hotter than race, but mixing is a real pain in the arse. The cost is way cheaper on av, and i can just roll up to the pumps at the airport and fill up the drum....excellent!

100LL

I think you need a pilots license to buy here anyway. I just buy it from a buddy who has a hanger close to town. I could even drop a drum off and get it filled when the truck comes around. $1.35L is hard to beat compared to C-12.....
Filled a slip tank at Yorkton 2 years ago. Called ahead and they said no problem. There's no road tax on Av gas so they don't really want it sold for on-road use but who the heck would be using it day-to-day anyways? It was $1.59/lt then.

Good thread!

I'm kind of in the same boat, but I ride 7-11k ...

Is straight 100LL too much for a BD PG kit @ 8-10 psi @ 7-11k?

I'm wanting to avoid mixing if possible, but I'm thinking straight 100LL at that altitude might be a bit much...

What do you all think?

Arron I do think that mix rate would be a little high you may suffer a touch on low end throttle response but it can be done many last year set there system to run 7-8 in the tight trees then on the PTP button 12-13lbs so a full mix was needed and it never seemed to be a problem.

Gettis, if you can get AV for $1.35/L you'd be crazy to think about buying race or even mixing with premium. You'll have to run premium anyways and its gonna run you $1.25 at the pump so for .10 more run straight AV. We can get it at the airport in PA........pull up with the sled in the back of the truck or jerry cans and they'll fill them but the price is $2.05/L:face-icon-small-sho

And like said by others, don't use your knock sensor as a tuning tool.......get an A/F gauge.

av gas

I just bought a turbo m1000 with the boondocker race gas kit im at about 2000ft would the av gas be ok to run its set up for 8lbs boast i have to premix the oil dont now if that matters
