chutes are awsome, would love to come up to revy someday, maybe if i ever have dakota performance install me an ovs turbo:)

Lost a Summer Sucks bag and a Yamaha Apex nose bag out of the front of my sled, lost in the center Airport chute about a month ago. Case of Bud Light to the late season die hard that finds it. Nothing really valuable, just tools, junk etc. :face-icon-small-hap

more pics plz!! laird i know u have a ton but just dont know where to start from so post them all!!!!!

more pics?? I'll see what I can do..

I am running out of pics due to our limited riding this spring, but I'll throw up a couple to satisfy the FIX.....

The picture shown above with Shain stuck on the East face of 57 reminded me of earlier this winter when Mike Irmen and Laird first tried this pull. I don't have the best angles, but these first two will give you an idea of where they are trying to get to. The first is the lower section, the second is the upper section, ...a run up a drainage with trees on either side, some off cambers, and some very DEEP POWDER.

Mike tried the run straight up through the gut of the drainage while Laird tried to swing left half way up, then to wrap around the trees and continue to the top. Mike ended his run in nearly the exact same spot as Shain, while Laird was around the clump of trees 25' away.

A Sky Hook was employed to extract the two sleds as there was no launching from these locations with the snow SOOOOOO DEEP...

Heres the pics..., if you look closely, you can see Laird climbing in the gut, while Mike is standing near the upper trees...

Both sleds planted...

Another view, showing Laird's hook around the trees..., check out the depth of the trench behind Laird!!

A call was put in to Selkirk Mountain Helicopters, ..our "Friends" in the sky, ...they were able to stop by for a lift on their way back from other business.

Mike's was the first to go, ..then Laird's...

Great Pics Captain! What a killer day that was! I may just have to take anouther poke at that hill next weekend!!

another poke....

Yeah...., I can't imagine that you guys won't, ...as it stands, there is actually in existance, ..a chute, ..or a drainage, whatever one calls it..., that has been attempted by a few, ....but not conquered as yet!!!!

I am sure it will be done by more than one!!! But who will get to name it???

Looks like fresh snow in next weeks forecast, but clearing Friday with sun forecasted for Saturday!!!

Cheers All

Laird is that the one were you and I looked at it from the bottom when the 3 of us went for a loop and then later on you showed me the top?

What brand of helmet does Mr. Irmen have on there?

Also, concerning Mr. Irmen, rather his old Apex, where can a guy get the chrome paint?

hmmm.....be sweet if there was another three foot dump up there like a couple of weeks ago :smokin:

Not trying to sound like an arse, but do you guys ever get tired of pulling the same chutes almost all the time?

TOO LATE.....

Not trying to sound like an arse, but do you guys ever get tired of pulling the same chutes almost all the time?

Too Late bkinz, with a provocative question like that, ..you are already coming off as sounding like an arse!!!

However, to answer your question, ...I would have to say NO!!!

These chutes are constantly changing through-out the season, with new snow the challenges are always different, snow drifting through changes the line, ...it can fill in the gut in different areas, ..the steepness can change, ...pockets of horsepower robbing powder where they weren't before, rocks exposed, or conversly covered up..... The chutes are like a living thing, morphing all the time, ...which in turn keeps it interesting.

Perhaps you should venture up this way and have a look at these chutes first hand, ..perhaps try pulling one of them!!!

If you were present at the base of one of these chutes when the guys are pulling them, ..perhaps you could ask them in person if they are bored, or tired of it!!!! I know from my experiences, wether they make it or not, these guys are pumped with adrenaline, ...it is "exciting" to just be there!!!!

Beyond all of this, several of these riders travel all over Western Canada and the US, checking out "new to them" riding areas, ..with different chutes to climb, and Peeps to ride with, unfortunately, we don't always get the best photos while they are off riding away, so you may see some repeatition in the Chutes themselves.

Bkinz, ...you are missing one very important aspect to consider, ....it is the fraternity of "like minded" people having fun together, riders and friends from both sides of the Border, from East or West, ..getting together to enjoy this sport, ..challenging each other, ..supporting each other, ..and revelling in it!!!!!!!! These threads and pictures are just an extension of the fun by sharing the moment with other's who appreciate what is happening, yet perhaps cannot get here to enjoy it for themselves.

Cheers

Ya I do. I once fell asleep going up Monster. I made the second turn in the chute and then got bored...It was such a long way to the top still that i started asking myself "Are we their yet" and then finally just fell asleep.
This is honestly one of the dumbest questions I have ever heard. If you are a true sledder then you know when your out there riding that you climb the same hills, hit the same jumps, ride the same lines through the trees, pound the same meadows. I think what your saying is your getting tired of seeing the pics and video of us climbing these chutes...if so, then next time don't click on the thread. We don't climb these chutes for you anyway. If you could actually climb something remotely comparable to any one of these long and technical climbs...then you would want to do it again too.:face-icon-small-con

hey nm this is none of my buiness but he was just asking a simple question i dont think it was nessasary to go that hard on the kid, but i can see his point of getting bored, some of would climb it if we had the coin that u guys obviously do to dump into a yammi turbo and not bat an eye, some of us cant afford that or afford the trip to revy, if i had the chance to come ride revy i deff try the monster, from mikes point of view monsters a piece of cake, and if i pulled the chute everyweekend of the year almost id get a little bored too.:face-icon-small-con
