Are ya packin?

I thought about that too Ruffy. These cops were packing and still were not able to defend themselves,

BUT, think about being the store manager or bystander that was not a target and the oppertunity that you may have had to end this losers life in defense of yourself and the officers. The wacko would not have expected several hollow points from the innocent looking coffee drinker by the door as he ran out!!!!

i loved carrying the Squad Automatic Weapon!!

google: four officers shot in washington.

thank you for your service!

Wtf!?

According to The Epoch Times, the gunman is still a large?!

How sad to see that our world has come to constant violence in civilian life. The article did mention mental illness tho; still sad as he11.

May our fallen rest in peace with Him.

Most anyone can pack a gun, just need a permit. The question should be "do you know how to use your weapon from concealment". If you get into a situation that you need to draw from concealment and fumble you are going to end up on the losing end of the fight. Anyone want to test their skill level I have a indoor tactical gun range.

I wanted to call you yesterday but I was mentally drained and exhausted when I got home from work.
I'll try it again tonight.

I hate to point out the obvious, but the officers were on duty and were armed. What are you going to do with your gun that an officer wouldn't have done? This is an example of the fact that there is nothing you could do to stop this (at the time of the incident). Being armed or not, there is no difference in this example.

Now maybe if there were other people around armed, they could have gotten a shot off AFTER he killed the people, but a gun as a reactionary device seems like it is never quick enough. Now, proaction is a different thing, or rather, being the first to draw..

Just my take on the situation...

Tt is a sad day for sure. Doing paperwork at breakfast no less.:( I think we need much much more capital punishment, and a three strikes and your dead law.
Oh....My...God.....
I agree with Dave.....Just another sign that the end is near.

I can go over what I would have wanted to do if I was in the coffee shop while this POS was gunning down 4 Officers but in reality most people would just freeze up, not wanting to die.
I would hope that I would be ignored by the murderer while he was giving his undivided attention to the trained Officers and simply, slowly pull my weapon out from the holster and empty a mag into the back of his worthless head but until a person is actually faced with this scenario it's difficult to say with any certainty exactly what I'd be capable of.

And yes...I always carry.

a gun is like a beacon, It is just a tool. Unfortunately the only time you are going to use a beacon is in a high stress situation. If you have not practiced and trained in a high stress scenario's then everyone would be better off if you just turned the beacon off and put away. You will most likely slow the rescue down. We all need to carry beacons and be trained in using them. Reverse beacon and gun and you see my point.

It was my understanding that they were in uniform, but not on duty yet... either way, hard to defend yourself when someone walks up behind you and puts a slug of lead in your head.
I'm glad the guy that did this is dead, though I wish they would have let him suffer a bit. I hope the 3 people they arrested that helped the killer get the same treatment.

Good point!! I have saved a life with a beacon but I hope I could do the same with a gun.

BTW - Did you put in the in-house tactical range after your incident? I would like to sharpen the skills with my 9mm that I pack in my truck most of the time. Eric

I bought a gun after the incident, I built the range after going to Frontsight 4 times and getting training. If anyone wants to check it out give me a call 425-280-7649 Roger

Yes, I would like to come out. I will send you a PM. Very generous of you to offer that to us.

It is wise to be armed, but it is also wise to know when to use it.

You cannot go off half-cocked because someone else starts shooting.

In this case it was obvious that what was occurring was wrong and the guy was in need of stopping.

But if you see two people in plains clothes shooting at each other, you better be careful before stepping in.

Defending yourself is one thing, defending strangers in unknown situations is a completely different issue.

Mtbarrf...
Are you just trying to raise your post count with posts like this?
Do you think before you post at all? I mean c'mon fercrissakes.

A google search did not produce any results for a real company.

Are you sure about Polaris making the Liberty? I have seen other brands using the Liberty engines, so curious about that.

It could be a subsidary, or someone they bought out. Will have to do more research.

LMAO! Sorry I just couldn't resist.

An armed society is a polite society. But, carrying a weapon, and not knowing how to handle it and yourself is a bad idea. As W8tn4U said, you'd better know how to use it from concealment, and this takes training and practice.

It also a good reminder to pay attention to your surroundings, no matter where you are.

Lol! Eric just had to put that there....I know others companies buy their engines from engine manufacturers so it was NOT that ignorant. My John Deere had a KOHLER engine. John Deere does not own KOHLER.

It is a shame that you don't value all free speech on here. Preaching to the choir does nothing to help anything.

You have people on here talking about what they would have done, as if real life is some action movie they saw.

You cannot go off shooting if you do not know the situation and that is the law.

It also a good reminder to pay attention to your surroundings, no matter where you are.

Cops in Philly and NYC have learned to sit facing the door and watch at all times. Protect your backs at all times.

Sorry to say while this garbage is new and shocking to the normally safe and sane Northwest, these kind of shootings have gone on for years in other big cities.

Well, every single cop I know here in the PNW (from many different agencies) already practices that behavior. I do not want to suggest or infer that these 4 slain officers were not, as I was not there, and have not read any official post-incident analysis.

I'm not a cop, and when I go to a restaurant, I try to sit so I can see the door. It's called being vigilant, and aware of your surroundings. I would be surprised if at least two of them (likely the ranking and senior) were not sitting to view everyone that approached the entry door.

Gentlemen,
I started this thread concerned that the direction of this country is truly scary. It seems like the criminals are winning. I remember a post a while ago about do you pack while you ride. Many, many people posted and there was a mixed posts. Some said to pack and others thought they we way out of line packing while riding. I stayed nuetral as I had not really thought about packing while riding.
I am thinking of it now.
I do have to say that I am pleased to read the responses from this post. For the most part, guys that ride sleds and injoy the outdoors think similarily as me. I do pack most of the time (doubt most people know though). I practice with my XD9 often and am very confident that my boy can defend my home when I am not around as well.
The world that we live in needs US to get off our butts and stand for our rights, our freedom, our right to bear arms, and most importantly we need to stand together along with law enforcement and government to take back control of this God foresaken country.
GOD BLESS THE USA!!
