Arctic Cat Turbo Question M-1000 or M-800 and what kind of turbo?

These threads are so stupid if you ask me. Allot of great kits out there now days and like stated above it’s about having fun and a good day on a boosted sled. You don’t have to be an expert now days to have a nice turbo sled and I don’t think there is any one kit out there that is heads and tails above the rest in ANY aspect. All of them have there good points. That is the whole idea behind this new technology you don’t have to spend countless hours or need to have your buddies to help you tune your sled in that is a so called expert turbo tuner.

So that is my 2cents I am a fan of most all the kits and I have had guys call up that have never installed a kit or been around a turbo in there life said that there BD kit was a snap to install looks clean and runs like a top and pulled hard in the grass drags on it’s first WOT run. So I guess if that is called a crappy kit by some guys so be it. Just as long as that “crappy” kit puts a smile on your face at the end of the day that is all that matters in my book.

This is why i think you should mostly just mention what you like about the kit you prefer/endorse or just think is the best. Most of them are pretty good. One thing to mention that sets them apart is price and what is included.

Good call!!! I went to product tester because I am a boost virgin and wanted to learn. I spent 3 days with all the guys at Twisted and even slept on PT's couch for a couple nights (oh yea, and I had never met PT before in my life, talked to him on the phone twice). I wanted to help build my sled so I could see what went into it. I figured that the the price I paid was worth it to have the clutching, diamond drive work, port timing, turbo, etc. and all the customer service I might need. Overall, I am extremely pleased and am stoked for snow!!!

Ditto that, myself and boostjunkie spent the night on Shains couch too and got nothing but top notch service and and answers to our questions. But, I have a buddy doing a 66 Aero charger "OVS" kit on his new M8 and I can't wait to try it too. Like SnowJW said, there are a lot of good kits out there and I'd like to try them all. The only problem with that is once you try them all and yours doesn't run as good as the "other" kit, then we have to explain to our spouses why we're going to go spend another 5K.

Brad i never thought there would be a day that i would contradict something you had to say but todays the day, ever thing but ovs is low end or cheap as you put it, and ovs is high end? Lmao. BD and ovs run the same garret turbo and in the same spot, the kits look the same, but hell on a two stroke theres only about one spot you can put it. ovs runs a pl box and bd runs there own box. Correct me here but isnt the Bd box a little better? Headers are stock so wheres all this extra quality? I just got back from my buddys house that is putting on his BD kit on his M8 and if OVS is high end then so be the BD kit. The kit fits, thats a plus lol with every thing polished and a nice looking intercooler. Looked like a nice kit or "HIGH END STUFF" as you put it. OVs does make nice stuff and they are good guys but high end?? i dont think so just another turbo kit like the rest.

You really don't think that there is a difference in turbo kits being produced? Hypothetical Theory vs. Real World on the Snow Testing is the difference and what makes some kits work flawlessly and some have continual problems with several needed "updates" by the manufacture. I have owned several BD kits that were installed by Brad Story and I think that Shain helped as well. There were several changes that they made to make the kit fit and work the way it should. My TM8 was a flawless performer with ZERO engine problems. The only issue i had was the boot on the charge tube slipped off 1 time. I had other friends last winter that other kits that were based on theory that had constant problems. From melted parts to broken turbos, their machines were in the shop a lot. Mine and others like mine were not.

I would only buy those kits that have been thoroughly tested and proven to work. I do not want to pay big bucks be someone's guinea pig and do their R&D. It should already be DONE!
