arctic cat 500 mile review

bought this sled in dec, first ride, snap a belt doin trail speeds down a loging road, second trip running boards snap in half, late dec rail stabs the track, down for more than 3 weeks waiting for a trax, last week i was dooin a long climb than snap belt number 2 broke in half, afterwards i felt a viberation in the running boards but couldnt pin point the problem, today i went out ecm17 code flashes, pipe sensor nfg, come home robbed one from my turbo, head back out ,snap there goes another belt, install new belt, but observe 2 screws that hold the helix on are snapped off, now i know y its viberating , limp home , just before the truck bang, there goes the helix, and the crappy thing is i got towed by a 13 pro thats never been to the shop with over 1100 miles on it.
also in this time frame, the grip heaters quit workin and high beam bulb blew.
these sleds rock with power but the rest of it is JUNK.
the fit and finish is terrible, and so r the sloppy handle bars,
looks like now im gonna put on a tied, with mds and a 911 cover to try and fix arcticats problems.

If you had a pro that was a problem sled you would have have twisted a driveshaft, blew a couple belt drive belts, would have a bog you couldn't track down, and a blown motor by 500 miles! Oh and none of those would get you out under your own power!

They all have some bad ones come through the gate! You drew the short stick, if it helps you any i did too!!

Go cry about it somewhere else, the ****s given here are few and far between. No one will deny theres issues, but the last thing i want to hear is someone bitch and whine.

If your not going to help with the problem close your eyes and shut up.

As for the problem cat should be paying for a fix. Sounds like if you do go with the tied, weights and cover it should fix it.

If you had a pro !!!! is that a justification for cat? Doesn't help the situation.

well my jackshaft snapped off and wrecked my secondary and primary. all of a sudden had a vibration and then bang. 2013. 1600 miles and only first real issue. big one mind you.

Maybe we cat guys should all buy pro,s,like all my riding buddys have. My new cat is going to kick some serious A## on those guys next year. I drink to much!! White is the new black. Diggin the white ltd.:cheer2:

you will like that 911 cover...!!!..i also got the glide washers as well for the primary spring from them.

And thanx for your post..you have spent over 12000 dollars for the right to express your views on something that YOU OWN..

I think if it comes down to it I will go with a 911, machine the secondary and replace the bushings, find a better sec spring and run MDS weights, if that doesn't do it I'll add white rads brace.
But a friend did the secondary machining, spring and lighter weights, his sled never blew a belt but pulled cords all the time, no pulled cords yet and better performance.

sorry to hear your luck, ive been lucky i guess i put on the bradley torque arm, vented the side panels and have 700 miles on one belt so far. i think if you put the team on you will most likley be good to go.

Man that's a long list of bad stuff. Cat has some huge issues with quality control. I like my 12 and 13 but I have spend about 2000 on each of them fixing what cat screwed up. I tell everyone" you want a light sled that feels slow buy a poo, you want hvy but no probs buy a doo, you want a sled that's better than both of those but you are willing to spend cash and put in a bunch of hours. Buy cat.

i havent spent that much into my 2012 (yet hahah) all i have done is narrowed stance, sealed the bloody thing up. and added a torque arm, so far 700 miles on an 084 with no issues, i do smell belt occasionally when i run it hard for a longer period than usual but that is why i intend to get the mtn valley kit i think.

Yeah as a fellow lemon holder i have come to peace with the pile i was handed and cat has attempted to change / fix it everytime i demanded when i brought it in. But all i was saying was you cant compare one brands lemon to another brands flawless runner.... As we sll know they all have lemons n runners...

Before you change anything in clutching varify parrelelism, and that both clutches move freely without binding when the springs are removed. Cat will be putting in 19/50 gearing and replacing both bushings in your secondary. Is the primary or secondary hotter ? check several times before they get soo hot you cant tell which is hotter.

Why are you even commenting on this post? If the last thing you want to hear is "someone bitching about the $12000 sled they just bought and are having major issues with" then I suggest to you, not involving yourself in this thread or on this forum for that matter.

People get on here looking for information, answers and solutions to their problems. There is a great deal of information on this website, including the the forum member's input. A lot of people, will get on here in hopes to figure their problem out without having to go to the dealer and spend 100 bucks an hour.

So if you find the urge to negatively or destructively comment on something, do us all a favor and kindly DON'T. Personally I don't care if you are tired of hearing something, that's not why I'm on here. I am far more interested in the problems that this AC customer is experiencing and would like to help him figure out his problem.

There it is, in a nutshell.

have anybody else have thier pipe probe go as well as broken bolts in the back of the secondary holding on the helix? My nephew secondary blew apart a few weeks ago , same thing happened, the helix screws broke, also causing him to blow a belt and destroy the clutch guard.

The bolt thing is common. I think it's from the bolts getting loose. Pipe
Probes not so common. You can buy the one for a duramax for 30 bud I guess. Same part

the pipe temp has an aftermarket part number in the automotive field which you may have to play with the plug end...if you need the number let me know via pm..

ps..Linderman..Arctic edge and others sell bypass resisters 20 bucks or abouts (or you can make one) for that probe so you can never have to worry about it again...just more careful warm-ups..

They have been identified for years as a possible trouble area and people have done a pre-emptive attempt at correction by either getting some slack and doing a bit of a half loop and zip tie or tape the wire to the probe so there is no "hanging" wieght where the wire enters the probe and that helps alot..

another way is heavy heat split loom that holds its shape to go over the wire and the probe for extra support well taped ,kinda like a garden hose end support or air brake gladhand support,i use the loom and no issues.

Helix bolts always helps abit of heat to remove and new ones to replace`(they are cheap) and loctite..i assume the helixes have been out and reinstalled...if not then its an issue that your dealer should answer..

i have replaced the probes before on our 2 m turbos, but that was due to the leaded fuel, this sled is still on warranty , cats buying me a new probe on thier dime, just sucks that we got up super early to get all the deep virgin sno, have to return to the truck right away, and have to take a day of work this week to drive 240 kms to see the cat vet again for the 4th time this winter, than wait over a week for parts than blow another day to get the cat back from the vet.
The secondary has never been apart, neither was my nephews. ill have a tied in my hands by next week.
