Apex Mtn for a lightweight rider?????

I know this may seem like a STUPID question, but I am a 140 lb rider (at most) and I have seriously wanted one of these sleds. I am not into outclimbing anyone or doing any serious highmarking, but do like to tear it up! Is this sled going to be more than I can handle? I know everyone is thinking "Why would a lighter rider want the heaviest sled" so.........

i used to be 150 when i first started riding my apex. start with some massive riders then go timbersled and u can make the sled very rideable.

I knocked 95 pounds off of mine, my buddie who is 145 can ride the heck out of it and loves the way it handles, he rides a rev btw. I am 6'6" and 275...lol...have no issues with it.

If your an aggressive rider you will be fine. my wife rides mine from time to time and does real good until she gets into something real technical. She weighs around 140, you can see its too much for her. you will want to throw some light weight mods at it or by the end of the day you will be pretty worn out.

If you can ride and arnt afraid to clamp it....I rode one stock for well over a season....was alot of fun and no wrenchin....go for it. They are a great sled.

I'm around 174pounds and find it a little much on the hard packed trail but its great in the pow. The riser helped with tipping it over.

I had an m7 when they came out in 05. We couldn't ride that sled on the trail hardly at all w/o the thing overheating. I know they are not trail sleds, but everyone has to do it at sometime. It rode like a lumberwagon, and that thing had no throttle response.(not like my old triple yami) I want Yamaha reliability, fit, and finish!

My Weight: 150# (without pack)

My Sled: 07 Apex MTX (minus about 50#)

Look on the guys faces that are amazed at what a 150# guy can do on a fat Yamaha: Priceless!

Don't be afraid of the Apex weight, especially if you're an experienced, aggressive rider. It does help to shave some weight off of them, 50# on mine has made a HUGE difference. If you can get a left-over or good used sled for cheap, then you can use the saved $ for weight reduction. You will also have to adjust your riding style a little, mainly due to the power delivery and engine decompression (engine braking). The only time I have any problems with my lack of girth is in extreme downhill, deep snow situations. Sometimes I just don't have enough a$$ to get her to go where I want her to. But I have plans to take-off another 50# which should fix that problem.
