Anyone wanna see why I spent my winter on the couch?

Dude, that there is some funny sh*t. I'm not at all laughing at your injury. It look like it hurts like a mother#*$er, and I hope you heal up good and quick. Seriously.

But I gotta ask: How, exactly, is it "less ghey" that way? Still two guys on a sled right? "Less ghey" for who?

For the record, I had to ride out double-up to get a truck/trailer to haul my POS sled out a month or so ago. It felt kind of ghey, and I'm pretty sure it would have felt pretty much ghey to be on the front or the back...

LMFAOROTFMF.
I agree, I laughed my a$$ off at the "ghey" part of the story.

man.. looks like it hurts. maybe your buddy should buy your sled so he doesn't have to ride with others and someday in the future you'll save another guys leg... get extra pain killers, trust me you'll need them once it starts snowin next yr if you do get out of snowmobiling.

I did about the same as sled365 did only a little farther up the arm about 9 years ago. It first I just though it was sprained so I pulled on my wrist downward and actually reset them myself without thinking about it. About 3 years ago was the last I could feel the bump in my arm where the bones had healed over themselves. Oh ya 1 month after getting the cast of I was back playing baseball. Third base and catching  ohh it would hurt like a SOB after catching a roper down third. That and foul tips off the end of the bat were both real pleasant feeling.

broke mine in august of 08. A plate and 10 screws put in after having a fixator screwed on for the first two weeks. No weight till Nov. Had to learn to walk again. I did race again in Feb of 09. I still suffer some effects of the break, and it looks a little funny yet. But I would say having the hardware removed did help. Removed after one year. Below are before and after pics. Before had 25 pieces I have been told, the doctor said I was lucky to keep the leg.

I Feel your Pain

Looks familiar skid. I did this on the 31st of January and am just now able to start putting weight on it. Doc says that I will have lost all my lateral movement which really sucks but I should just be happy to still have a Foot. Hope I can still ride remotely like I used to although that didn't work out too good this Season.

Jay, I remember when that happened... I don't think I saw the Xray though. You done good bro! Glad to hear you're mobile and working again.. You have a mighty fine woman taking care of you! :beer;

Running's over-rated anyway. Hope you heal up quick. That looks beyond painful. :(:(

looks familiar, 'cept mine was left leg. I have the same two small incisions on the front of the ankle where doc ran cord around ankle to hold it together. I'm not 'sposed to put weight on it til April 15th.

I'll try to figure out how to download the pics of my broken neck. I crushed c-6 and c-7. Pretty wicked X-ray. My neck looks like a snake.

highmtn, It's a slow healing process for sure. Hope it doesn't restrict too much all the things I really enjoy doing but took for granted. Just got to hope for the best and deal with it the best you can.

Holy chit you guys, those pics make me cringe looking at them. Wow my wrecks this year were minor.....feelin good:)

I forgot how bad it looks at first. I have found many things that are hard to do now. Running, walking up and down steps, walking in snow, mornings, nights, cold, sitting around too long, walking on uneven ground and jumping rope. I have found ways to run yet just can't do it every day, the only good thing is I don't get shin splints in that leg cause the ankle does not really move much. My calf is still 2" smaller almost 3 years later and I do calf raises every day.
The worst part is atrophy from not using it. If you can move your ankle and toes as much as possible. If they let you ride a stationary bike. Don't smoke, drink, drink pop, and take 1500 mg calcium every day. Do pt as much as possible. Once you are allowed to walk make it a habit of doing as much as possible. It feels the best when you are active.
I still can ride mx and snowmobile. It effected me at first mentally and physically but after time it is almost like before.

Skid, look into some calf stuff besides raises....you need to change what your doing or they will stay small.

you fellas cringing.....man you oughta work in the ER taking x-rays...we get exicted for this stuff.

I have tried other things, jump rope, lounges, hip sled raises. I think the major problem is my ankle does not have the movement to isolate my calf and get a good burn. What would you suggest?

Thanks for all the tips and I know it's not going to be easy and I'll have to do the work. You'd think that all my so called riding bud's would get together and send over a hot Physical Therapist to help me out at least once a week for rehab. Dan

After I could walk without to much problem. The rehab had me walk in soft sand barefoot. It alot harder and really built up my leg up fast. Wow Oregon I thought you had my xray mine looked the same . I think I better stay off this thread to many memories. The best advise is do your PT . Take the time to let your body repair itself. Dont set time tables you will know when done healling. Then go do what you want.I took 3 years to get there and have never looked back.

It's hard to tell from the x ray but the Fibula was in three floating pieces. It's pretty uncomfortable right now but what do you do? Doc is worried about the Tibia and the Arthritis that the injury is going to bring on. Will just have to work it the best I can and deal with it. How did you guy's do yours? I went off a jump a little off camber throwing me to the side and somehow got my foot in the track. Felt a jerk and then heard a big snap. looked down and there was my right foot 90 degrees to the right. A sled ride, A Snow Cat ride and two Ambulances rides and six hours later made it to the Emergency room. Not my best day by far. Dan

For the arthritis I would recomend Nutrisport glucosamine condrointon. I have used many different ones but this has been the best for me.
