Anyone tried a different track?

I have had the power claw on since day one and it performed very good track speeds were usually 4 to 5 miles an hour faster than our other pro with the 5.1 it floated better and got on top of the snow faster. great track in my opinion took it off my eleven assault and put it under my twelve assault

Just ordered the drivers from carls and was told that the PC was
Faster and climbed higher in there area than the 5.1,,Im shure the taller track is better in the deeper snow ,but then I would want a 174, for now with a 155 Im trying the PC since I already own it !Cant wait till I hear about the PEAK

I know the CE is a proven track but now we have a new one to throw into the mix. Gonna be interesting to see how the new Cammo PEAK compares to the extreme. In theory it should work good but time will tell. Who wants to be the first ginnea pig?

So do you need anti stabs for the 3.0 drivers from carls what about the avids?

I've been running Avids 3" pitch with the PC, works great. I'm going to try out the peak track just for fun this year, if they offer it in the 3" pitch that is, don't want to change drivers again.

I wouldn't go near a 3.0 pitch track without anti stabs wheels. I actually stabbed my 153 PC on my M7 with an 09 skid with anti stab wheels on it. It snapped the anti stab axle and sucked it right in. It was due to a broke rear axle I was unaware of which slackened my track excessively and allowed for the track to gert sucked around the driver.

well I called Carls and was told that if the rear suspension is stock that no anti stab is needed, their drivers are made by Avid as well,,, they said dont waste my $ but If I wanted I could buy one? I think I will listen to them!

I dont have an anti-stab kit on my dragon and neither does my buddy's pro, havent had any problems at all. We both ordered the avid drivers from Carls also. Heres a pic of them in my dragon with PC track.

went from the 5.1 to the 2.5 camo on my wifes D700, I like it better in all conditions.

the 5.1 just sucks azzz terribly i was rideing with a bunch of nose heavy 4stroke yamis down a road with a 1-2ft of fresh fluff everytime we stopped i would just about get stuck and would have to rock my sled back and fourth to get going again. This is on a 163 dragon the yamis didnt have near this problem so i started watching everytime we stopped the yamis would take off and only trench just a couple inches and would take off without even sweating. So i thought to myself why in the hell would those nose heavyy yamis take off so easily when my lightweight dragon cant take off without trenching 3ft down. Obviously it has something to do with the tracks common sense is if say a track or tire is spinning we make it bigger. Well on another trip i was neck and neck with my buddys m8 153 but as soon as i threw on the 174 we are talking 100yard differnce easyily.

If your after track speed put a 121 1in track on, track speed should only be a measure of tune and power after a certian modification on that same day same hill same hour of day.

Put the camo on and dont tell your buddys as you will be that guy with that sled that just climbs way better then everybody elses

^^^^There is a lot more to trenching than the track. The rear skid makes a huge difference and the Pro's is awesome. Also, setup is huge. I had to suck up the limiter strap on my D8 to make it work well. If you think that a CE is going to trench less than the 5.1 you are very wrong. The CE is much stiffer and trenches more. With the right setup on the limiter strap, the CE works well, but I had to use the throttle a little different too. The CE excels in the spring snow or anything hard. It also brakes much better descending hills.

the drivers in these pictures are not extrovert drivers. the anti stab is only needed with extrovert drivers.

Puttiing anti ratchet, anti stab and CE 163 on my new sled. Loved it on my D8 and im sure its going to work well on the Pro.

So the yamahas must have some sort of secret hidden traction aid to help them move? oh wait they do they have a camo extreme on.

so your telling me i got little grimlins in my garage messing with my sled at night those little bastards because i made no other change to the sled. But you are very correct the rear skid make a tremendous difference look at a stock dragon vs a stock dragon with only a timbersled rear skid even sucking up the limiters makes a big differnce with them tight you get better aproach then you have to much ski pressure nah not with a stock dragon skid they alread have way to much transfer thats why mine are redrilled to suck the front of the skid a lil bit further. But its all up to the OP i just gave my real world exsperiences that compares it to a sled that has everything going against it compared to my sled "weight,nose-heavy,less track on the ground"

OP you decide

I only get a couple trips out west every year. I rode with the stock comp track on my 11 pro assault last year in 2-3' of fresh snow and it trenched so bad that it almost ruined all the fun. I'm making a switch this year and I want the track that performs the best in fresh pow. I'm not concerned about performace in spring conditions at all because I am keeping my comp track for just that reason. If I'm only concerned about powder riding, which track would you recommend? CE, PEAK, PC or 5.1? Just to clarify, I'm not looking for the best all around track, just the best powder track.

5.1 is a GREAT powder track. I have used both CE and the 5.1 on my dragons. 5.1 wins hands down in powder!
