Yes it is a public riding area. If you are only going for one day Monday would for sure be less crowded. Night and day from the weekend. But if you are able to be flexible I would wait and pick the blue skied day after a huge dump of fresh

. Shrine Pass road goes from the lot right off I70 back to Red Cliff. As soon as you get into town, there's an open area to your left, that's mango's sled parking lot.what do most people do for food if they are riding Vail Pass for the day, I've been looking at the map of the area and don't see much of anything around, do most people pack a lunch or something? just wondering, In NY where we ride there are restaurants and bars to stop at and warm up and eat, also what are the huts for? I see them on the map, but since I've never been there I don't have a clue? thanks for the info, see ya, ron

Train tracks run from Pando/Camp Hale (Nova Guides) up to Red Cliff; it's not marked on the maps but it is rideable.
