Anyone have an update for the Snowies?

Rode the Snowies on Sun. The snow on the west side was good, a few little pockets of fresh up in the trees. Watch out for the creeks. The main trail out from the east side is pretty sparse, but OK. On the way back to my truck, stopped & watched some riders having some fun jumping and climbing on the face right off the main trail, Lake Marie?

I just got back from a 4 day trip to the Snowies and Northern Colorado. Rode 3 different areas in 4 days just to explore the early season and ride my new Dragon. Brought both sleds. Good to get some miles on the sleds.

Snokaw, what areas in Colorado did you ride?A group of us are heading west and we don,t know where to go to find snow.We usually hit West Yellowstone for the week prior to Christmas day, but unless they get dumped on this weekend we may try somewhere else.We were thinking of Grand Lake or Rabbit Ears. What do you think?

go to the snowys looks like there getting hit hard again this weekend come on snow gods keep bringing the white stuff

The Snowies are getting pounded! Came back up to Laramie from Steamboat Springs this afternoon, and wasn't sure we were going to make it back! The snow plows couldn't keep up with the snow! Looks like it will be a good ride for anyone going out tommorrow, which may be myself! Keep doing the snow dance everybody!

It was snowing like CRAZY up there when we left today.
Snotel is showing over 6" already and it is supposed to snow thru monday.

I was over by Gould and rode up towards American Lakes, needs more snow to get up higher and north towards Montgomery Pass, there was no grooming yet, not enough snow down low, as I climbed up snow got better. I stayed on forest roads, moose in the trail as I was heading up. it was snowing as I got down at dark. That was on Monday.

Tues. and Wed. up on Buff pass. It showed 4 feet at the tower. Rode a-ways back towards Rabbit Ears. Just exploring with a couple guys I hooked up with. The snow was good, rocks and creeks need more cover. It was great to be out, found some good pockets of pow. It is still early, but the snow had set up from that bottomless snow the week before. I rode with a group from Utah in the afternoon. Good Times!!

It is storming right now, it looks like all over out west right now so conditions are changing fast. I get 4 avalanche emails a day from Montana, 2 from Wyoming and Utah. Then I can check the Colorado one. These are a good source to keep tabs on different areas. I like to travel without plans. I just go to the snow where-ever it is.

A group of us are thinkin about headin to the snowies friday! Any advice on where to go? It sounds like the snow is pretty good in the trees but it would be nice to do a little climbing. Dont feel like breaking anything though! Cant wait to be in the mountains even if the snow isnt that great!

I just got back from the mountains and I went to Brooklyn Lake and rode around there. Then I rode over to the Toilet Bowl at Lake Marie. Climbed that and the hill right next to it didn't get any rocks, but their are a lot behind Brooklyn and Libby Flats so be careful.

We rode Friday thur today, found great snow on the back side, still to rocky to cut through the gap. Woke this morning with 6' on the sleds at Albany.

snowies...snow

rode this saturday... it snowed hard all day.. 18-24" on the top.
Wind hasn't blown yet. sunday it was snowing lightly according to friends.
A little thin on the east side, but great up top and on the west side.
This snow has made it all ridable.

update... went riding up there today, left from Snowy Mountain Lodge, rode up around Mirror lake, Lake Marie, and just bummed around in the trees mostly... really cold, was -14 when we left laramie this morning, took me a good hour+ to get the truck started, ended up plugging it in for about 45 minutes and giving it a quick adrenaline shot(ether)LOL got it started, headed up there around noon by that time, it was 1 above when we left the trucks, wind was blowing like a motherffffr. poor visibility. found what snow we could, found a few rocks too, but didn't damage anything. broke my ripcord when we got back to the trucks going to load up... good time for that to happen... right at the end of the day! lol had a cheeseburger @ SML, watched a little of the Steelers game in the loft of SML. drove home, now i am tired, hitting a hot shower and most likely using every single gallon of hot water in the water heater, too bad for the roomates. going to bed very soon after... and i will be sleeping like a baby!!! LOL long story short, it was a good first day out! keep it snowin!

Rode last weekend, COLD..snow is good as expected for this time of year. Looks deep as he11 and it is over the hood but lots of land mines to be uncovered. We had 7 peeps in our group and only one bulk head punch from a rock and we were lucky at that. If you are planning on some heavy hill climbing dont come out just wait a bit longer. But overall good snow to ride and more on the way.

We will be heading up sunday the 21st

It is supposed to be cold but chance of snow every day till we leave we will post pictures when we get back we are going to stay at snowy mountain lodge. this will be our first time in the snowies sounds fun!!
