Anyone Had There Rt 1000 Motor Go Out?

My 06 RT 1000 motor went out. Took it to the dealer they said it was a broken piston. Has anyone had this problem with there 1000? If so what causes it? The sled had just over 400 miles on it and was stock with a SLP can. It had all the updates done and the 07 programing. I am the original owner so I can vouch that the sled has not been abused or ran hard i just dont understand why the motor would go out with low miles. Is there anything I can do when rebuilding it to prevent it from happening again? Is there any cheap mods I can do why the motor is apart? Do I need to rebuild with skidoo parts or is aftermarket ok to rebuild the motor? Any advice or comments would be helpful!

I am waiting on my cylinder it should be done a few days ago:) But i am not having them replated, I am going with a steel sleve and wiesco pistons, My guy, say's the 600- 800's love the steel sleeve and maybe in the furture they will make a larger piston and the cylinder will be borable at that point. Mine also lost a skirt, maybe due to a tight bore and a slight pinch,? Not sure. But it should be abit spunkier, He even said i may not need to put my High comp. domes back in That I would notice a substantual difference. I'll most definatly post my findings if AND when i get her done.

2 '05 RT 1000's both lost a cylinder at 3500km. First one skirts broke on intake side, second one piston just became totally scuffed and lost comp. Dealer shrugged his shoulders on both. Put 1100 Bikeman kit, twin pipes, boon docker box, polaris clutches on first one, second one dropped crate engine in and sold for #$^@ all. I feel for the XP owners when they have 2000 plus k on their machines. Will never run a 2 cycle over 3000k with out rebuilding or expecting a tow, I put on 3000k in the hills each year, not profitable rebuilding a one year old sled every season

Do the 1000's have a bigger bore, more stroke, or combo than the 800's. If they have a bigger bore, That is an awefull lot of mass hangin on the end of that rod, hell even an 800 2 cylinder has a lot of mass. Between me and my buddies we've done about ten 800 rev motors since 04, no with a tramendous amount of miles. I could be totaly wrond but i think that it has something to do with the large bore and pistons. Last week we pulled apart an old 780 3 cylinder with over 4k on it just to freshin it up and it looked better than any of the rev motors ive had apart. Like i said, it's just a hunch but just thought id throw my 2 cents in.

They have both a biger bore and stroke, And i also just lost the motor in my 06 REV X today unloading from my truck. The ring pin in the piston must have come lose alowing the ring to snag an bust off three pieces onto the pison ect.

My 06 is currently at the dealer with a "blown" engine. The dealer is so busy fixing the XP's that they said it would be 2 weeks before they could look at it and let me know whats wrong. I have 1200Kms on mine and have enjoyed the sled up to this point......thank god for 2 year warranty!!

I have to go now and drop my XP off at the dealer for warranty work.I just cant win for loosing!!

Lost a rod bearing last weekend.
When I took it apart I noticed that both pistons on the intake side were scuffed bad. The reeds were full off belt dust.
I bought a wrecked 1000 for the motor and the pistons looked the same and reeds full of dust.

last year my 05 lost a piston, rod bearings, and a crank. around 500 miles. no real explanation from the dealer. looking back i really wish id have gotten the bikeman 1100 big bore kit. also what nitro's doin with the steel sleves sounds like a good plan too.

Well I am gonna get it fixed and rebuilt back to stock specs and sell it. Thanks for all the info sounds like I should do the steel sleeves and I think I might do that but I am not boring it out or anything gotta save the $$$$$ for getting a new sled. Its for sell any reasonable offers accepted! It will have a new rebuild on it the sled it self only has 400 miles!!!
