Anyone ever ride Boreas Pass?

Yes, thats my neck of the woods !

Two problems

#1 reliable snow

#2 when it does snow the wind moves so much of it around the avy danger is extreme in areas.

As a point of local history, when they established the pass, in the winter before the railroad ran west out of como there was a group of postal workers that went over the pass twice a month year around ! Theres some old cabins, not those off right the road, the used to stay in as it took a few days by burro to get over. Theres one section they used to use as a shortcut on the west side, it was part of the original breakenridge pass. They built a large bridge and pass through for the train the next spring. hopeing to save time.

Mother nature thought otherwise and a avy moved the bridge to the bottom of the gully. Burros the next spring moved most of the wood up the drainage and they built cabins for the workers. Theres some logs left if you know where to look !

Also, alot of folks assume its all NF up there. Theres alot of private property if you start getting off the road. Parking sucks too.... on both sides !

If you want to try it give me a shout, its usally best early, but also more dangerous early on.

If I failed to express this, its a hard area to ride, lots of rocks that need coverage, with otherwise minimal snow. I would give the area 150-200 inches of snow a year at best. usally sub 100"
