Anyone enjoy riding a Non-boosted 4-stroker ?

I do enjoy riding a non boosted 4-stroke...if you enjoy endless power and dependability it is absolutly a no brainer...i love the way it handles in the deep stuff...i cant recall a better balanced sled than my 07 apex...you would think with all that weight it would be hard to handle, not so...:D:beer;

Veedy rode his totally stock last year. :D
Very similar to the XR chasis you are on now. ;)
Enjoy :beer;

I rode my Nytro bone stock last year. I didn't make a single adjustment to it from the day I picked it up and I really like the sled. I use it as a backup/wife sled to my turbo Rx. That said I'll never be without a turbo sled I don't think, but the Nytro is a fun reliable machine. I'm in the process of modding it out right now and I'm actually more excited about riding it than the turbo. I already know the turbo will pretty much go up anything I have the balls/stupidity to point it at where as the Nytro I find much more relaxing to ride. So far I've knocked off 73 lbs. I'm hoping to have it in the 575 lb range ready to ride with the 7 gallon tank.

I rode my 04 RX1 stock for 2 seasons as I slowly did lightweight it. at the same time I also did all the suspension upgrades before doing the turbo.

It ended up about 90 pounds lighter than stock and smoked any stock sled at that point in snow-drags and all out speed .
Climbing it was right in the mix with the Summits and King Cats of the time.
Now with the turbo none of the guys want to play with us anymore .

I love boost but sure had the most fun with the moded out sled and the stock motor in it mostly because no one could believe that the 4 banger could hang with them.

So my final verdict is --- A diet is a must ---- better shocks a benefit and besides that just have a ball riding the heck out of it without worrying when it may blow.

We have a riding group that includes eight non boosted 03 RX-1's. Little by little we have figured out how to carve weight and improve their handling. Every year we add a couple more to the group, even as the new technology sleds continue come out. Not one of us were originally Yami guys, and not one guy who has adopted a modded RX-1 has switched back to a wing-dinger. We picked up a boosted RX-1 a couple of years ago and take it out on "big" snow days. It's a thrill, but most of the time we ride our ole reliables. I still feel that "out-of-the-box" Yami 4-strokes are either too heavy or in the case of the nytro, too under powered to run head to head with the new 800 two-strokes. The good news is that with a few chassis mods they are right in the game. Add the smooth relable power of the four stroke and we feel we have sleds that will keep us smiling for many years to come. Here is a clip of some riding last year. A couple of the sleds are two strokes, and there's a little footage of our turbo, but for the most part it's all naturally aspirated RX-1's

I ride stock, I don't know any better, and can't afford boost anyways. Seems pretty kick *** to me. Then again, I'm not crazy hillclimber guy, I just love boondocking and fresh pow turns.

Nice video :cool:

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Nytro!! I can't wait to ride it this season ~ And....it's a great boondocking sled too ~ the best I've ridden so far ~ I came from a 700 triple mountain max, what a night and day difference. I can't say enough about it!!!

I'm just your average rider ~ I don't do fancy jumps or super high marks ~ I just enjoy riding far, deep, high, in circles, figure 8's, jumps, fast, slow, no matter what, where, or when, I love to ride!!

There are some really great sleds out there now, no matter what brand it is ~ it's all a matter of your preference, what you like and how you like to ride.

What are you currently riding?

Dude, THAT'S a satisfied customer!!!!!

Right on!! I wish everyone was this happy with whatever they chose to ride. :beer;

I've got both a Vector and an FX Nytro and think they do just fine with stock motors. I love not having to jet, clutch, worry about them burning down or blowing up, or deal with blown belts. When I ride a two stroke sled the first thing I notice is how narrow the powerband is and how they seem to run out of legs. I'll never go back to a brand new two stroke sled. Aside from the weight, which you notice when you're stuck, there really isn't any downside. The fuel mileage is a big plus as well.

I rode mine stock the first year them I took the stickers off! She's mod now and I'aint looking back!

It's nice to have a sled you can ride for years and just keep updating the stickers.

cheers

You betcha!! :D When the weather was -20 out, I was out there riding. When no one else wanted to go ride, I went by myself ~ when it was snowing and blowing ~ again I went out and rode by myself. It doesn't sound smart to go by yourself, but I knew the area really well and I consider myself a smart rider. Life is too short to let a perfectly good sled sit in a garage, if I wanted to let it sit the garage then I would've bought a tool box! :P

Yes, I LOVE to ride and I really do LOVE my "stock" Nytro!!!
