Anybody getting ready for hunting season?

Season opened Sept 1 and I had to work we headed up that night and only saw one cow moose. The next morning headed out to the moose stand and shot this nice blackie, I havent measured it but that's an 8' bed...

Took him to town and got the skin in the freezer and the meat in the cooler, headed back up to camp. Left camp at 6:30 and shot this bull at 7:30 :face-icon-small-hap

Thats awesome! I wish there was moose over here. Thanks for posting those pics. You totally got lucky getting two kills that fast lol.

Now with all that meat you might have to feed all us hungy snowest guys :face-icon-small-win

We shot a 4 man limit of mallards and teal saturday in 30 minutes. Have to love flloded corn fields.:face-icon-small-coo

Might go out tonight to go find a deer. Made sure the bow shot good last night.

I think im just going to go shoot any deer I see. I just need the meat

could have shot a antelope off my front deck last night but it was a female so i did not. would have been cool to take one off the deck though. going antelope hunting tomorrow! trying to find one 300+ yards just to see if i can do it! i can ant the range so we will see!!

I wish I could shoot something of my deck. The only thing I could shoot would be a human, cat or dog, sometimes a retarded deer but im not shooting any of those lol

Lol, I too was thinking about getting the bow out and taking a shot at a antelope buck off the deck today. Too warm out though so decided to pass. The goats are very much like your retarded deer. Stupid things, rub on the pine trees, can't seem to figure out fences or vehicles on the road for that matter.

Going to put a few miles on my next set of days off while scouting out our elk area. Saw a few mule deer worth taking a look at last time we were up so will take the bows. Nothing more refreshing then the mountains in the fall!

My retarded bull from Sunday.

Hunt all day for two stratight days and then get back to camp at dark...he popped out above camp about 700 yards away.

His left side base is messed up and right down low above his eye. He looks like a unicorn on the left side. LOL
This picture was taken a day later.

I leased a ranch with a group of friends this season after seeing it go to hell the last few years by a state run access program. We are trying to manage the elk herd for a good bull to cow ratio, and maybe up the "quality" a little. My main goal was to harvest a young cow if possible and make it my culinary elk for the year. I was able to get a cow and a bull last year and I couldn't believe how much better the young cow tasted than the bull I shot with my bow. Anyways, so far I have seen 16 bulls (mostly raghorns and five points) and not one cow! Usually it is just the opposite. Letting the young bulls walk for now, hoping we will get a few nice six points in there in the next few years. Unbelievable what a difference it has made only hunting the place a few times a week as opposed to it getting pounded day and night all season long. If we can keep the wolves in check it should be a good few years.
