Winter Festivities for Next Season

I have been lurking reading all this crap you post, and that is exactly what it is. If you need people to ride with just come out and ask if anyone wants to go riding on such and such day. We are all noobs at one point, and we all get stuck, the better you get the worse areas you get stuck in. Simple as that.

I don't see a point to organize all these big activities? I like to go out and ride and go exploring. I can see if you had a family reunion to do some of it but it would just turn into a big noisy show and the skiers would have even more to feed on then.

I'm just happy to go out and ride as much as I can and it doesn't really matter who it is. Sometimes it is a novice group, but that is fine, I can ride plenty hard whoever I am with and it is still awesome to be out riding with good people having fun.

And I think the Uintas are very quiet, even on a Saturday after a big snow storm, Sure the parking longs and about a 5 mile radius is kind of a zoo, but after that I can ride all day and not see anyone else. Just have to know where to go. Ask sledhead and GP about that.:D

im down for some lessons on "where to go" since everone seems to know better than i do.. my house is over the hill from the parking lot so thats why i say "thunderstorm".. I got yer point on the activity thing with the damn skiiers and what not.. lets just forget this post ever happened, forget the activities thing, i can see from the feedback its a bad idea.. i'll stick with my track in the backyard for our festivities.. as for the "crap" part of it, its research, seeing how varying groups of riders react to what i have to say.. i can tell everyones a critic at this point and thats fine.. glad you all "schooled" me on what snowmobiling has become...

If done as an Organized event, it could be viewed as a good thing. Fairview, numerous Poker Runs, etc. all take place and involve sledding. BTW, the South Lincoln County Poker Run out of Kemmerer, WY, every year has more than a few Utah trucks and trailers in the parking area, so some riders must enjoy the mass get-together atmosphere. Trying to organize too much - too quickly might also be a problem.

I can understand some riders reluctance to infuse more riders in an area. Our local riding area north of Kemmerer is normally very uncrowded, yet every now and then riders from all over seem to converge on a single weekend and as stated above, 5 miles out is kinda crowded.

Don't be too discouraged too quickly, let the forum get to know you a bit and you may see a different take on your ideas.

Just my .02 ........

Good Luck on the guide business, keep us posted as the new season approaches.

That took allot of reading to get through all that. I agree with allot of people that even though it all sounds fun I think the tree huggers would have a hay day with all of that. I love the way it is, quite away from the worries of home and secluded thats why I drive two hrs to ride up there. Never really been a summer dweller up their but Think I will find some time with no boat this year. I have been riding up their for 20 years and it seems our little stash is slowly becoming more and more crowded and the less people the more pow for me.

Ever ridden the flats up on elizabeth ridge?? no one really knows its there but theres always TONZ of pow and lots of drifts to bust off.. I'd be more than happy to take ya out there this season!

sledhead ctiticizes my amount of posting here..

Didn't throw criticism but I guess it was taken. Up to you.
My point is that you've only been on here a few days and I've seen multiple ideas from every angle possible.
I think getting on here and coming across so bold may have been an issue. Haven’t met a sledder on here I didn’t like and respect. That alone says a lot for the sport.

Keep in mind there are a lot of people on here that are passionate about the outdoors and the sports involved. Hence the reason forums and support groups are started. Seems to me you must share these same interests and therefore would want to also protect what may not be someday.:face-icon-small-win

Like I said before, I hope it all works out for you.

Chad: some of my best pics of the year were taken on that adventurous day. GP got scratches? LMAO

I respect that... I do wish to preserve my mountain deeply.. Have been working with the forest service for years to help leave it the way it is.. but i do have mixed feelings about the way snowmobiling affects our environment, think about it.. snow is like a protecvtive surface, 90% of snowmobiles don't even touch the natural surface of the earth (besides the trees people sometimes catch off gaurd:D) but whats the harm?? I agree with you and didn't mean any offense with the criticizm.. Been taking a pretty hard beating by all you guys last few days, having a hard time seeing why.. i'm a rational person and like the feedback, not the cutdown.. good point though..

That is about the only place I rode, liz flats up around the radio towers and the scout camps. I am part of the Eggett family. This was the first time in 20 years I headed to double hill and that area. kinda crazy with all the good riding but I was never really into climbing and as I showed the SH crew this year Im still no good at climbing.

Hey i worked for Roger last summer building his cabins!!! Right on!!! Did all the dirtwork for him.. I could take ya to a couple other really cool spots like elizabeth back by the 40,000 acre ranch if you want.. the owner gave me permission to run my tour through there as long as no one littered cause he runs his cattle through there in the summer.. REALLY deep pow on the 40K ranch side of the river.. one of my many SECRET stashes!! :D

You ever hit the twin sister chutes on the downside of eliz?? pretty narley and narrow!!! my brother creamated his 99 rmk there two years ago.. Gots some other really good climbs on the Roberson/meeks cabin side of eliz as well.. but no one ever goes there but me and my bro.. ain't seen one track in death valley for over 5 years..

Let me know when you head up and we'll see what the melt does. Dirt riding is a PM thing but happy to share off the air. Run off is a big factor where we like to go. Usually can't cross till later in June.

Not a problem, like I said above, ease into some of this and responses might be different.

I moved to Kemmerer area 4 years ago, not sure about a MotoX anywhere, might be. I usually spend summers on the road working, so I can stay home and ride during winter. Haven't gotten into the bikes......yet.

I know, i jumped in too heavy.. really trying to conduct alot of research tho for our guid business to see what snowmobiling has evolved into..

On the motoX hand, theres a track out by the landfill if you get on Opal highway headed towards Opal its on the left side. There used to be a sign, me and some buddies took our quads over there last year and rode it.. kind of small and gainty but still a fun ride. When you cruise through evanston this winter lets go do some riding, my contact infor is on my website.. always enjoy the company of fellow wyomingites!!! :beer;

You should go to the Ranger Station and get you a map. A lot of the ATV trails are marked. You could start exploring it that way. Real fun on the dirt bike too.

I think I know where it's at ...... my son and friends rode quads out there a few times.

IF I get done on this job and get home for next winter, I'm gonna be hard to get out of Kemmerer area, but sliding over to ride the Uintas is always fun. I just hope I can be home next winter, the BigHorns were fun and met some great folks, but it isn't the same as riding home turf...... gotta love the B.T.N.F. area.

Ahh sweet so your working in norther wyo then.. the bighorns are beautiful. ran some casing on a rig up there a few years back but ain't been out there much since. What you doing for work nowadays anyway??

wow mike! you just climbed a few notches on the respect-o-meter :D
offering an apology when none was needed, IMO.

your points were quite valid, and comments pretty much hit the nail on the nead!

props to ya, man!! :beer;:beer;

I apreciate that snowrodeo and others:beer;
I don't want to come off as a dik on here, and I have had to learn to deal with situations correctly at work. (I tend to get heated) so I try to think about what I say before and after the fact and learn better ways to to express myself.
It wasn't until after I apologized that I saw you and others posting and supporting my comments.
Does not mean I take back my apology, I don't want to offend anyone.

As I read this thread, I couldn't help but think how I would feel if this was being talked about FB... A place that is dear to me where my family has a cabin.
I like it just the way it is and don't want that to change.
I have met, rode, and taken a lot of great people up there this year but I can't help but think I am letting the secret out of the bag, thats why I refer to it as FB.
I will still take and show any snowesters who would like to ride up there as all of them I meet are great people.
Its just that the parking lots are small and each year we have to get up earlier to get a parking spot.

I have made a lot of good friends on here and I am sure there are many more to be made.:D:beer;
