Been laid off since the end of dec. & it's really starting to suck...No jobs ANYWHERE yet. It's starting to get warmer here in idaho falls though. Hopefully something will break open.

Layed off/wrongflly terminated since sept. Not a dang thing around here and going to get worse. ATK one of the biggest employers around here is supposed to layoff more than half of their entire workforce in the next few months. I think they have over 5K employed right now in UT. So I get 2500 more people to fight with to get a job on top of what we are dealing with already.

If we would do what we should have done years ago and send all the illegals home there would be a lot of jobs open and maybe the economy would get a little better.

I hear that. I broke my leg Nevember 21st. I'm a contractor, and due to preexisting shoulder injuries, I couldn't qualify for disability. THAT sucked. I feel your pain guys. This can't last forever! It's gotta come around!

What industry would everyone say is taking the biggest employment hit right now?

One of the big ones around here like I said above is ATK which is space and defense stuff. Another one is Autoliv which makes automotive airbags and they have been cutting way way back and started to do some stuff in the medical field just to help keep the doors open.

Yep, now is not a good time for defense contractors.

But on the upside, we won't need any of that (or even a military!) when the whole world is living peacefully together and everyone is a friend.

My best friend and 'buddy' was laid off last Friday, after 19 years with Sprint-Nextel as a regional service manager covering 4 states.
He's 51, with a kid in college with 2 years to go.

Not layed off, but im lucky to get 20 hrs in a week... it sucks but its better then nothing. It definitly some tough times to get work. I'm always looking for any side jobs to make ends meet. All a guy can do is hope things slowly turn around...

Its been wishy washy here. Some of my accounts dont want to spend money and others are still trucking along. I guess I should be thankful im still getting more than enough over time averaging 50-55 a week. Time will tell.....my phone just doesnt ring as much as it used too

Road Work

Been laid off sence Nov....going to try paving in Canada Not much likeing the idea but our company seems to think its best right now. Not much work being let in MT right now. The wages and taxes for being up there might not be good for me. But at least I have work. Dino

havent been hit yet (knock on wood) i survived 4 lay offs at my last job decided it was time to swich 18 months ago and survived 1 at my new job. my luck cant last forever though. my old man has worked at ATK for 35 years and has been told he isn't safe from the lay off hopefully he makes it through it. everyone else that is out of work i pray and hope you find some soon.

end of december til the end of march.... a few months but the playground construction still going well... goverment funded and private school funded so its still booming. everyone will send their children to school and the schools will spend money on **** like playgrounds so... im still in it thankfully (btw building playgrounds isnt as cheesy as it sounds)
