Any tips to getting secondary star bolts loose?

I have a 13 pro that I'm installing a new helix in.
Can't seem to get the 4 star/Torx bolts on the back side of the secondary loose. Broken two Torx heads already.
Anybody have any tips or tricks to get these loose? Thanks

put your torx bit in the bolt..smack it with a hammer (the socket) then loosen..once all 4 bolts are out turn the secondary over and drop it from about 18 in. above a board and the helix will pop right out.............

Team must hit those torx screws with an air impact during assembly. No Loctite on my screws. Why in the hell they put them on so tight is beyond me. Guess they want you to strip them so you have to buy new ones.

impact driver for sure. i found no lock tite on mine but broke 3 27's before brakin out the impact driver. funny spec is like only 80 or 90 in/lb's.

I did all of the above and ended up welding nuts on to get them out after breakeing three torx bits... FYI the torx screws are $6 a piece up here in Albernia..

How the Hell did you weld nuts on the them, the torx bolts are like a low grade metal at best. I also use the propane torch, and use anti-sease the threads on install

Impact driver with a good quality torx socket (Snap On, Mac). We have destroyed many cheap torx sockets (harbor freight, Lisle, etc) and the Snap On are well worth the money.

I just ran into this problem. I broke off or twisted 7 different torx bits - any kind I could find in a store. Then I ordered a snap-on removal one ($27) and with the impact driver I got 3 of the 4 bolts out and unfortunately the 4th one was a bit messed up from previous tries and stripped out. Even with the snap-on one, it took multiples hits and the snap-on bit is a bit messed up now too. Hopefully can weld nut on the 4th to get it out.

Personally think this is a bunch of crap. I've taken like 20 of these apart many times in the past without ever having a problem.

I have an open socket type ratchet wrench that I bought for removing and installing the bolts on a side post car battery. It is the same size as the torques bit (1/4") This allowed me to put the torques bit into the bolt and put the ratchet wrench on the bit then apply pressure while smacking the bit sticking through the wrench with a hammer. It takes some firm pressure and a few smacks to break them loose. The bit did show some twist by the time all four were lose. I dont know why they need to be that tight either. Mine did not appear to have any lock tight on them.
