Any snow reports from Paxson/Summit area?

lastest update

- paxson lodge reported the last storm dumped a total of 18 inches yesterday at noon and clouds where rolling back in. :)

- Summit - 30'' on the road at the pull-off :D

Will be headed down sat or sun or both.. To bad I'm the only in the shop this week or I would take a comp day on Friday. :face-icon-small-fro

I'm heading down first thing tomorrow morning unless my buddy's wife makes him go x-mas shopping instead. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. Water's Edge plowed 2ft or better out of their lot yesterday and it was still snowing a bit.

summit snow

ive been riding there twice this year, with 20 inches down low and hopefully 3 ft up to the riding will be good. Its been rocks and dirt getting up there but once you did there is already a great base. should be good.

well I just checked the weather and their suposed to get up to another foot of snow tomorrow so I'm going to delay the season opener until Sunday...Rain or Shine.

Deamon,
Are you going down on Sunday? I might have room for 1 more in the trailer.

I think a few of us are planning on heading down to Summit monday morning. Would appreciate if all you weekend goers came back with a report! :beer;:beer;

Enjoy..

AKMK - Prob meet up with you in town, Got 3 or 4 guys going w me. maybe more will know more tommorw. Ill hit ya up tommorw afternoon.

Lastest report from summit - 5 inches last night, windy today though most of the snow is blown off the road out to MP#18. 14 mile valley must be whippin.

Talked with Lee Harper(ex's step-dad)at Waters Edge this afternoon(1pm),said the sun was shining and clearing off. Temp was -5 and supposed to drop to -25 tonight. He was headed out the door to plow another 6"-8" that came down this the morning. He's a good guy, lost his wife early this yr.give him a call at 822-4443 and i'm sure he'll gladly fill you in.And if it pi$$es him, tell him i told ya to call.:D

If you believe the weather guessers it's supposed to slowely warm up tonight and be above the goose egg tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed, I'd be happy w/ anything above -10.

Finally broke the sled in for the season today. Here's my "opinions" on the snow conditions at Summit.

We need LOTS more snow down low, it's possible to get up high w/o breaking anything but take it slow, you could almost drive a 4-wheeler up the shute this evening.

First Aid and vicinity is ridable but be careful!!! Just enough to cover the rocks in many areas, you'll still feel them though. The further East you go the deeper the snow is. Closer to the pick-up point it's pretty good, really good actually, tracked that up a bit today.

The tit was really good but the light was pretty bad back there, didn't stay long and didn't drop in behind. Didn't worry about rocks at all back there except up top where the wind blows (typical). I'd say 4'+ of powder and a good base, I REALLY wish the light was better, the backside would have been epic.

Bottom line it was a good first ride (finally) but more snow is needed down low. A LOT MORE. Pretty decent once you get some altitude. Still it was worth the drive.

Only negative is my clutching is off a bit, I need 500 more RPM's. Something to do this week...

AK-Dmk,

Ya I think I saw you pullin out of the gas station as we pulled in. We were 30 mins behind schedule. First Ride, gotta get the routine back together. We made it to the top of First Aid. Had a newbie w me and was ridding a borrowed sled. Can't say much bc I remember when I couldn't go anywhere either. :D but he's hooked. M8 ran great, half as much work twice as much ease ridding compared to my old xfire. Was helping ppl in the shute get unstuck and ridding circles around them as I did. Prob headed back down Christmas Day or Sat. Hopefully they get more snow b4 then..

We waited for a bit, figured you were running behind, no worries. Glad you like the new sled. We'll meet up for a ride sometime this winter. Don't think I'll make it next weekend but I'm going to try for new years.

Plan on headed down tommorw. Buddy picked a rock up last weekend, tore up drivers, shaft and shredded half his track. Got new rails and track drivers and shaft, fixed her up and waiting to go tommorw. Meetin up at Buff Fuel around 9 in DJ. if anyone wants to rolll w.

cant wait to go hopefully there is more snow so the rocks stay out of the new track dont want to spend that kind of money that soon agin but it was a grate present that the wife got me =)

my buddys just bailed on me for tomorrow, mind if i tagged along? i got an 07 dragon, figured one last ride before i turbo it next week.

Good Light

Made the pilgrimage down to Summit on Saturday the 26th, There was a flurry of activity once we pulled into the monument lots of folks showing up.
There were caribou on the flats and up in the finish line area. The snow down low was adequate for trail use but barely hid the rocks.
Once up out of the pick up area and headed to the tit things got better. Avg of 3-4ft with a good base. some areas were slightly windblown which made for choppy carving. Found one rock which I left some running board on. Light was great for most of the day, especially on all the south facing areas.Warm weather too, can't beat that. It still could use a little more snow but was well worth the trip.
