Any real DEEP / STEEP in Mich. anywhere ?

In Utah it is RAINING up to 8000 feet and no new snow for a good two weeks.
I went to collage in Houghton and would die for that powder right now.
West riding is great, when we have snow, not this season so far.

Try it you do not need hills to have fun.

off trail riding around twin lakes, and around Rockland is awsome. You have to stop at Henry's Never Inn and eat very good, cheap, and cold beer.

we would go way past ironwood, and we are west of st paul

I only said Ironwood for a time frame for ya but I'm in white pine in 5-1\2 hrs
and twin lakes in 6hrs we go about 8 times a year go up thru Hayward if you need directions---just ask...:beer;:beer;

:D

We go to ishpeming( i think thats how you spell it) its west of marquette about 15 miles. Now, when i said 10 hours, i was over doin it a little bit, just tryin to make my point sink in a little bit. If we get on it, we can get there in about 8.5. Sorry for the confusion boys. We're out west right not, finally found some powder, but nothin like what they're getting up in the u.p.

I hear the snow and riding is excellent in Northern Minnestota!!

Just a snow condition report for anyone who may be thinking about coming to the Keweenaw. We had freezing rain overnight on Thurs night into Fri morning. It beat down the powder pretty good, compared to what it was. It has been windy and very cold now for two days. We rode yesterday for about 3 hours in -20 wind chills at least.

We still have 40+ on the ground and there are still tons of places to find untouched powder. Its not over the hood stuff like earlier, but it is still ready to be ripped. The wind has moved a lot of it around and you have to look for wind loaded areas or untouched areas to really get some nice powder riding. The wind has made a lot of drifting which makes for some great fun.

This 40" we have on the ground is going to be a sick base when we start getting some more lake effect over the top. Keep an eye out on the forecast and keep your plans if you were planning on coming to the lake effect belts.

I live and ride in the UP of Michigan. The crew I ride with goes out west once or twice a year to ride. Sometimes when we get back the snow seems just as deep as it was out west. You just need to know where to go.

I'm heading up to Houghton on the 12th. Any suggestions on where to ride: North or South? Can you make it north to Copper Harbor and back to Houghton, or south to Mass City and back in one day?

North. Yes and Yes but why would you want to ride that many trail miles on mountain sleds? We spent one day in the bush and never were more than 2 miles from where we stayed.

UP powder from 2 weeks ago...

And if you have to ask where to find 5+ feet of snow in the UP, you're not looking very hard. Stop going 80 mph down the trail and barhopping and you just may find it. :D

Steep yes (just not as long as out west) deep yes we're having a good year. I prefer it compared to out west living in Upper Michigan, I live for weaving through the trees and I can drive and ride all day and drive back all in one day. If you are gonna ride here a bumper and skid plate are a really good idea

Haha, trust me I would rather be out playing in the powder like in your vid...I got invited along with a friends family (their daughter is playing hockey up there so they thought they would take the sleds with) If the fam goes riding, it will be all trails...and that is why I will be bringing my old, back-up sled...'98 Mach 1...gotta be able to crack 100 on those wide open corridors, don't ya know der, eh?

That youtube clip looked like you were playing on Military Hill. Is that right?

i have no idea its right outside rockland on the trail
we were going to meet up with a guy and ride off trail
all weekend and didnt happen we hoped off on a few spots

Let me know when you're ready to go. I'll show you some spots if you're interested. I live in southern Wi, but am up in the UP usually every other weekend for sure if not once inbetween as well. I usually ride in the White Pine/Bergland area off trail. I have ridden in Rockland/Twin lakes areas though a coupe times.
Only rule I have is, if your coming out riding with me you need to stay at the same place as me, which is my buddies lodge in White Pine.

I am currently going to school in Houghton and we just got dumped on this week. I have a cabin in Mass city and the snow there is just amazing!! I personally dont know of "ALOT" of steep stuff, but its incredibly deep here right now, going riding all the rest of the week!!
And yes, Henrys is amazing! Go for the SMORG every friday and saturday, it ends at 9 tho so come early.
