don't pay for online gaming, don't pay for forums.. not my dealio.. maybe down the road I might change my opinion but I'm all for the donations optional clause (which they currently are). I'm going to hold out until they make the switch see what I think of my free membership and decide if it's a benefit to switch to a pay membership or not at that point in time. I always considered me supporting the sponsors of the site my way of supporting snowest.

Not really seeing the value yet.
I'm a believer in freedom of speech. But, I'm not using that excuse from the "OMG MODERATORS ARE MEAN" anti-censorship point of view. Instead I want my contribution to society to be free to all who want to listen (or read?).
For example, the infamous diamond drive bearing thread. I believe that everyone should be allowed to read or contribute to it. I'm sure "other" forums linked to it. People that have no business going to snowest for any regular reason could end up wanting to see that information (crossfire guys back east for example.) I have friends who I'm amazed have figured out how to turn on a computer, much less care to ever buy a subscription to a forum! All of a sudden, they aren't welcome? If I started that thread and it ended up behind a paywall, damn rights I'd copy and paste every reply to Arctic Chat or wherever other cat people go. Which then mitigates the point in having a subscription here. I want the useful part of the site to be available to the widest audience. Maximum exposure to the major flaws, the best fixes, the more pertinent issues of our sport.
Christopher has not answered my questions yet regarding this in another forum, as I take it the details are still being hashed out. In my opinion, the brand specific forums, the land use, and the riding area sections should be left "open". Fouled plug, the new review section, and whatever, that's stuff that I can understand being behind a paywall, it's not pertinent to the usefulness of the site.
I will note that I am aware of the irony in what I'm saying as I have contributed a fair share of complete crap over the years. But, I regularly read a lot of very good information and I think it would crazy to expect every sledder on the internet to subscribe to snowest. I'm a fan of the new thread rating system and will try to rate up good posts or rate threads with 5 stars. If the useful sections of the site stay open, I'll subscribe just to make the point. If not, I simply don't want to be behind a wall.
I'll probably edit this rant later when I get home for grammar/spelling/non-nonsensical rambling issues.

I havent paid yet! But I am woundering will Chrisopher Pay like all the rest of you who have? I hand it to the mods who paid to show everyone is equal on here and no one is above the "NEW RULES". I just want to know if the ones who made this a pay site will commit to it like the rest of you who have? I feel if I have to pay for my info they should have to pay for my/your Info as well it seems only fair. As for me paying my debit was stolen so till I get an new one I cant.
Shared his negative rep with me too. Time to take him out to the parking lot! Poser!

New to the site about a month.There is alot of good reading but not many questions that I have asked have been answered.But i don't agree with giving free info and letting someone else profit from it.If you go to Best buy will they tell you how to fix your camcorder.Nope they will charge you for it.So if you give teck help on here you should be payed also.

Not picking on you in particular......just this was the closest post on this, and I've been reading a lot of non truths, and being subjected to a lot of *abuse*.
So, I delete something that is clearly against the rules. The person then comes back on, and says, "oh, I didn't do anything wrong........". Now I can't leave the stuff up because it is offensive to some, and not anything kids should see. Or deleted for another reason clearly stated in the rules.
For this I get to hear what a bad person I am. Mind you, I've PAID because I believe in this place.....and though I believe I've more than earned that in the years I've been doing this, I wasn't going to have anyone saying my thoughts don't count because I get SW for free.
For you guys that are married or have a SO, how would you feel if that person was called a f'ing "c", or f'ing "wh"......or I could list a whole bunch of other names. I'm sure no gals would appreciate it, or guys either, all over the rules that have been in place all along (you had to check the box to agree to them to become a member). But always, these peeps are "innocent" because none of us are going to leave this kind of thing sitting on the 4M for others to read.
My point is.........there are 2 sides to things, and just because you are hearing some get back on here to say they were "moderated, but innocent", doesn't make it so. I've kept quiet, but I'm getting fed up with the lies that are being told.
I am NOT a sheep. I have a mind of my own. I'm more of a leader than a follower in anything I do in life.
So Yes, I paid.........and I paid because I BELIEVE in this place, and the people who come here. I don't feel that just because someone has a lower post count/recent join date, that they are less knowledgeable than anyone else.
That's my 2cents on this!
