I have the Skykomish River right out my back door (300 yds).
I tried my hand at Plunking out there but NEVER caught a thing!
I know I helped fatten those Steelies up for the rest of you guys though.
That's pretty much all I ever accomplished on the river, just fed the dam fish.
About 17 years ago I used to fish Kings and Blackmouth out in the Sound near the Narrows bridge.
I had a nice boat and all the gear. I used to go at least every other weekend when it was open.
Then I was introduced to sledding!
I sold the boat, bought a sled and never looked back!
so what your saying is you cant sled either!!!!!
That is why I have not been on the forum much.
Just stepped up the boat to a 21 wellcraft and slapped a new BRP E-Tec 200HO on the back (There goes a new sled this year). Got out and got some good salmon sessions in--as well as the shaker fest's that have been going on lately!
Bouy 10--slayed them--Nice 12 to 16lbs silvers and a couple 25+lb Kings (had to throw them back--closed).
Sekiu last weekend--Some kings--No keepy and alot of silver shakers. So ran out through the hole in the wall and killed some nice big lings!!
Headed to Westport Friday night to go out TUNA fishing--anyone game??

Yup--we took out my boat---60 miles from the south jetty to get into them--was a awesome day on the water--sure I have alot more to learn on this fishery for sure--the tuna are a bit different fishery--sight hunter they are!!
Actually went out of Ilwaco because the water had moved south. Had alot of nice water--but patches of rough going out and coming in. We still ran a total of about 180 miles when all said and done.
We got 6 nice sized Albacore--what a fight. Wished I knew all the tricks that some of these Tuna fisherman obviously know--the boat by us had 60 tuna in the time we got 6---ouch. Still--all in all--we have plenty of tuna till next season gets here.
I am thinking DiamondDave needs to get out there with me and teach me a few tricks to catching more of these fish!!!

Heck ya! I still have my lucky gaff! Fishin out of the Columbia can be tricky. I prefer Westport. There's still pockets of blue water about 35 miles out. That river wash can affect your water all the way to the outer dump... that's 90 miles out. Not to mention, you can be in 60'-62' degree blue water and in 58'-59' green water the next. Of course this isn't the case all the time. I still have a few buddies that run out of Westport, so I'm privvy to a little more info than the average guy.
I've been on both sides Of the 60 vs. 6 fish saga's. Most the good sides.
If you really wanna be a high liner, then we'd need to devise a plan for a live bait tank. The local albacore have really taken a HUGE liking to the anchovies over the last 15 years. Sounds like your boat holds enough fuel, how much fuel did you burn on your last trip? What coarse did you run out of the harbor? Water temp? Water color? Bird life? How many boats in the area?
