Non-Slash snow flap on Slash tunnel

The 24 scratchers work stellar. Mounted farther forward, big paddle on end plus they are twisted so the paddle is angled and throws snow towards sled. Even loads running boards. They do work. Lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink.
I am sure the 24 scratchers work better than the older Holz style ones, but are they the only or the best answer? Hmmm... let's compare paddles...

Thanks! Ironically that design still would not have worked very well in those snow conditions. Maybe well enough since they are mounted further forward. But the style of the end of the wire style scratchers like the Ibex was simply "drawing a line" in the snow and nothing was going up in the air to speak of into the skid or tunnel. The OTTP ice storm scratchers have that bigger v-shaped foot on the end that were throwing stuff up and not just drawing a line in the snow...
My dad's axys has the ice storms, I am consistently much cooler than him in all conditions

Are you able to get any pics of the modified flap? It'd be a big help.
Real life experience it does not seem to be catching a lot, the ice storm scratchers make a bigger different than anything else. Throws up more snow and ice chips than any comparable scratcher design I have seen regardless including the new polaris ones...

Any issues with the longer flap hanging up in the snow or getting sucked into the track? Did it help with lowering temps?
I ride with him and quite frankly the ice storms were the game changer. I don't have the flap on my matryx, he does, and not a whole lot of difference, maybe a couple degrees? with scratchers down...

I was concerned about the exact same thing but honestly, I haven’t had a single problem with it this year getting hung up or stuck in the track. I think the double ice scratchers provided more cooling, but the flap also helped a little bit. I would do it again. And I’ve decided to leave it Installed year-round even though it looks like chit. Yes the Ice Storms are the ticket and the most important part of the whole arrangement.

I don’t recall the Polaris part number of the flap I ended up using but it was a perfect and direct fit when mounting to the rear of the tunnel. It required absolutely no modification of any kind. The tabs and mounting holes on the flap lined up perfectly with the bolt holes from the rear bumper and rear light.

Sled head likes it because it possibly provides just a little bit of drag from an aerodynamic perspective and so he’s closer to me now when we race. 😀

We did all of this 24K for a sled that goes 2 ****ing miles and over heats, 100 dollar scratches did the deal, **** I did engine ice coolant, but the Big Brain that could not figure a heat exchanger? More cooling engineers let Donald Trump rip Polaris:)))))

Bought a set of doo scratchers for $125CAD and mounted them forward on 22 boost and left the factory ones as well. Huge difference, dropped by 40deg on the trail. These sleds eject the snow out the back super well is the biggest reason they over heat on trail. Which is the best in deep! Thought about flap as well but didn’t want to sacrifice the ejection of snow.

Doo style scratchers still suck in some of the conditions we ride. Just draw a nice line in the snow without throwing much up, and still overheated... ice storm FTW in most conditions IMHO...

That is true yup. Most of the snow I ride isnt that hard or iced up. So works for me. I recall my ‘13 800pro and using chains over the skis to be able to come out of Allen creek on the ice in Valemount before they rerouted the trail!! Couldn’t go 400yds without overheating.

Ideal is to have both Doo style scratchers (or the new Poo ones) AND Ice storms AND maybe even the flap. Now we can ride and not stop until we see the low fuel warning LOL (which we did Wednesday)...
