Another stimulus check!

This is the final step in destroying the American currency. Next year at this time we will be a socialist county. Guess it’s time to brush up on my Chinese

Am I expecting too much to want the monies from a covid relief bill go only to relieve hardships caused by the covid?

Would it be unreasonable to require an application for these dollars?
Furthermore this burden should be partially shouldered by the recipient's state.

Jaynelson's point that $1000 ain't gonna keep you afloat anyway. However, much more could be given if appropriate recipients were targeted and the bullshit spending removed.

Oh, they'll understand the language my Glock speaks. That there's a universal speak.

With regard to the stimulus cheques themselves, we are doing the same thing up here. There is an income cap, but it is fairly high at close to $200k/yr household salary. So say you and the wife made $150K this year....how bad do you really need $500, $1,000, whatever in random gov cash? If you can't make your payments on $170K/yr household income, that is 100% a self-inflicted problem, and a grand isn't going to solve it anyways.

I would like to see a higher targeted amount go to help low income people who actually need it, lost their job, whatever. People who have actually been affected by the covid goings on, vs most people who had their busiest year ever.

On another hand, I guess we've already paid for it 1000 times anyways, so we're really just getting back some of our own $$. Weird times

Random gov cash? This is a loan from your grandchildren. It doesn't just magically appear in the government accounts.

The Chinese will just loan us more $ lol

I love how people believe big government can have a balanced budget. It isn't some rural town with 2000 people.

Meanwhile most people expecting a balanced budget in government are up to their eyeballs in debt. So easy!

This post proves that you don't get it.

"Meanwhile most people expecting a balanced budget in government are up to their eyeballs in debt." Yes, many productive citizens are. Do you understand the difference between personal debt and national debt?
Obviously you don't so I will help you out here. When we take a loan for a house, a toy, a vehicle or business we fully intend on making the payments.
Heck, I've been in debt since my mid teens, and 40 years later have NEVER missed a payment.
In contrast to politicians that rack up debt that they themselves have zero responsibility for. Nearly all politicians are guilty of it, both sides of the isle.

You laugh while saying "China will just loan us more".
The worst part about that is that you are right. They will, and that is not a good thing.

Don't ask for further explanation, you still won't get it. Just please sit this one out.

Don’t mater. If China never gave another cent. This has been the plan all along. We are owned by them. Hang on tight the next couples years. Hope everyone has way to keep there families safe. I’ve been called crazy. I guess will see ??

You're correct, but obviously many simply don't get it.

Says I don't get it. Goes on to say I am accurate. Dude we all hate typical politicians here. Stop making me your enemy. I just like to point out that you can't blame either side. They all know we can't make them have a balanced budget. So why complain? It is all funny money anyway and no President is going to fix it.

Actually, China holds very little of the US debt.
1 Tril last I knew.
Now at one point that was a large majority of the pot, but we have diluted that down considerably since then.

... and I don't think that we have enough billionares holding US bonds to cover all that, so who actually holds the debt?

OUT OF CONTROL CONGRESS!
Our supposed leaders never missed a paycheck this year.
Check out the 'pork' they've loaded into the latest relief bill.

They used the suffering of some to push through a bunch of crap that other wise would never make it through. There is no other reason for 5,600 pages with the title of COVID relief plan.

Don't judge. The bill gets $$ to a lot of people, businesses, and schools. It isn't just unemployment benefits and $600 to those making less than $75k like the media likes to hype. What you might call "crap" is likely the PPP loans that a lot of corporations used to pad their pockets in the last round of funding.

Read it all yourself to get the facts or just use this summary.

Individual benefits

$600 direct payment checks for every adult and child earning up to $75,000. Individuals earning between $75,000 and $99,000 would get smaller checks, and the benefit cuts out entirely for individuals earning over $99,000.
Unemployment benefits: Lawmakers agreed to extend enhanced unemployment benefits for jobless workers, who will receive up to $300 per week through mid-March. Self-employed people and gig workers will also receive extended assistance.
Rental assistance: The measure includes $25 billion to help families pay their rent, and it extends the eviction moratorium now in effect until Jan. 31.
SNAP assistance: The measure includes an additional $13 billion for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

Small-business help

PPP loans: The agreement includes some $284 billion for Paycheck Protection Program loans. Democrats say they expanded eligibility for the loans to include nonprofits and local newspapers, along with TV and radio stations. Also, $15 billion would be reserved for live venues, independent movie theaters and cultural institutions, which have been struggling due to pandemic-forced closures.
Child care centers: The measure includes $10 billion for child care centers to help providers safely reopen.

Vaccines

The agreement includes some $68 billion to purchase and distribute COVID-19 vaccines and help states conduct testing — $20 billion of that funding will make the vaccine available at no cost for anybody needing it.

Broadband access

The measure contains $7 billion to increase access to broadband Internet, including a new Emergency Broadband Benefit that Democrats say will help millions of students' families and unemployed workers afford the broadband they need during the pandemic.

Transportation aid

Lawmakers also agreed to provide $45 billion in transportation-related assistance, including:

$16 billion for airlines to pay the salaries of workers and contractors.
$14 billion for mass transit agencies.
$10 billion for highways.
$1 billion for Amtrak.

Education

The measure contains $82 billion in funding for schools and universities to assist with reopening, including, $2.75 billion for private K-12 education.

Agriculture

There is some $13 billion in the measure for farmers and agriculture, including money under the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program for growers and livestock, dairy and poultry producers.

Medical bills

The measure also includes a provision ending surprise medical billing. Republicans say patients would be required to receive a "true and honest cost estimate" three days before any scheduled procedure and that billing disputes would be subject to arbitration.

Tax-deductible meals

Lawmakers also included a provision sought by Trump, making the cost of meals a deductible business expense.

So if a murderer is serving meals to homeless people it's ok because he is doing some good?

Why not require application requiring verification of covid related loss of income?

Imagine a mugger grabbing you in the dark of night, handing you a wad of cash. As you look at him confused he explains... "Don't worry, I'm going to steal this back from your grandchildren"

Great, this makes it more difficult for businesses to find people willing to work.

I understand the rationale, but these should be loans, and should be expected to e paid back. The "Too big to fail" excuse is total nonsense.
Education

Classic pork!!!

More pork!

This isn't covid specific and should not be in this bill

You'll notice I did not object to many of the items, some of those are certainly worthy.

The problem is that this is merely a portion of a page, and there are nearly 6,000 more pages!!!! Let that sink in.

I simply want politicians to value our money in the same manner that a purchasing agent in any industry values their employer's money.
If we disagree on this, there is no more use in communicating because our ore beliefs are too vastly different to find any common ground on anything political.
The term "billions" is thrown around as if it were describing an insignificant amount of money. This is a classic red flag.
