Another Avy Death yesterday in Clemina

Condolensces to the friends and family

OT may sound a little calous, but could that slope have any more visible problems? Seriously that should be a "do not climb" poster - I wouldnt waste the energy to dig a pit on that thing...

I think what Teto is saying.. is that some people's mentality is like that. It is almost at the point that the sledders with common sense have to regulate the ones without.
There is no reason that someone should be climbing that hill, unless you have either a death wish or an ego to uphold.

It does look like a very bad hill. But I bet many people who climb it and think about the risk say "if a avy comes down I can out run it, look at all that room". It is dumb to say, but i'm betting many think that.....

Trust me, I was riding with some people who were on a hill almost as bad as that, and they had no problem having 9 people on it at once, not a few hours after we left the WHOLE thing slid, wouldn't of had a chance. Reason why I sat at the bottom while they played with death, NOT WORTH THE RISK!!

hey "stupid " no himarking ...thats for idiots ...play in the meadows add a wack of trees and steep little shots ....and you may come home at the day ....
\
PS it is way more technical than going striaght up

That is the way I have rode all year. I don't mean any disrespect to the dead.....but this just baffles me.

I don't think people think too much of terrain traps and such. That area is so riddled with rocks its amazing people play in there let alone climb one of those faces. It just amazes me how ignorant some people can be, with all the recent avys, poor snowpack and the sun beating down on the hills all day, they still go out and climb the biggest hills the can find:confused:

I was so hoping this would end but I guess not till the snow completely goes and people will resist the feeling of being invisible and playing russian roulette. RIP fellow sledder, and let there be no more like this. Condolences to the family.

Sad deal forsure for this young fella, RIP.

Just more proof that highmarking is ****in LAME !!!

Anyone starting to notice what has been the cause of most of the Avy's this year ?

Hmmmm..........

as a famous redneck comedian would say "must have been safe, there were other tracks on it and it didn't slid". here's your sign.

hey guys, lets keep the avy banter in the threads it belongs in. this one is for offering condolences.

I am very sorry for your loss. my heart is heavy for the family and friends. be strong.:brokenheart:

sympathy can be sent here as well as conversation about what went wrong. It's how a lot of us learned was reading comments here.

OT was not being disrespectful at all IMO. re-read. It's a point that people ingnore every thing and then do the wrong things with the same results time after time. Darko makes a great point!! THIS year has sucked and the losses were way too many. and there is a common theme in most all of them.

we need to learn. we need to teach and we need to watch our brother's backs!!! speak up and stay safe. again, RIP, young man.

X2

Cody was a good kid. I don't know why he was on that slope, as he should have known better. He was a smart guy with a bright future. Please be careful to not attack the persons character. You can question the groups judgement on that day all you want.
