Another 08 and Earlier Front Bumper Option Coming Soon!

Everyone that ordered a bumper sleep easier knowing that ALL of those orders are in and Skinz will be filling the orders in about 3 weeks.

Thanks to everyone!

Another question. I opened my hood and looked at my 08 RMK 600HO today. Mine has the plastic cover over the front area still. I looked through the rectangular hole to find there is plastic (part of the belly or a close off plate) between the aluminum bulkhead where it looks like this bumper would mount and there is a voltage regulator or something mounted to that plastic piece in the same area. Anyone know how this bumper will install yet?

Does that mean they will be in our hands in three weeks? ;):p

You didn't get yours yet??? Man everyone else got theirs.:D J/K

The 05 and 06 900's need a close off plate for the area where the radiator used to be. Need one like the SLP close off plate but with holes cut for the bumper mounting brackets to go through on there way to the bulkhead. Don't want to let any snow in the front end of the sled.

The stock close off plate will go back on with no cutting what so ever.

Randy,

Some models will require some minor trimming of plastic ribbing inside the bellypan. The voltage regulator should not interfere with the bumper but I would like to see a picture of it. Got one handy?

SD...

I think you are talking about the plate where the radiator used to go and where there is a plastic block off plate on the 2007 and 2008 RMK's...#14 in the diagram below???

NOT the top cover plate, #3 in the diagram...

The Pic shown in this Thread is of Monty's 2008 Dragon with the float plate installed... that caps off the bottom edge of the opening and actually helps to hold the front
end together better... the sides, visable from the shock tower areas is where you would need to put some thick, 3/4" thick, weather strip foam tape in and maybe
double secure it with some silicone...

2007 Dragon Nose assy... almost identical to the 2008's... nose pan, #6, is the same part and part #on the 2005/2006's

MH,

Quick ?,

I see how they are attaching lower braces to the lower a-arm bolts, and I agree peolpe will have to cut the plastic block off plate to fit over that mounting system. But how is the upper mount attached? To the upper a-arms some how or is the upper mount a radius up against the bulkhead and the rivited on top to secure? If so, this would allow you to slip the plastic block off piece behind and underneath the top mount? If so, cool!! :) I find it sweet how different eyes see thing differently!!

Thanx

Yes, #14 is the plate I was talking about. I didn't spend a lot of time looking at mine. I really need to pull the pipe and the plastic cover to see it real well. My voltage regulator is mounted to #14 in the center. I had electrical issues last year where the replaced the regulator and my harness so I am not sure fi that is the stock location on the 08 600HO RMK. I would assume you could drill 2 holes in plate #14 for the lower bumper mounts to go through. What about the top bumper mounts. Is plate #14 low enough that it fits over it or does one have to trim it?

Thanks Mountainhorse for your help, I'm at a disadvantage here as I have not owned a 08 or older IQ and Microfiche is just not as accurate as seeing it in person.

Again, I only know what the pictures tell us. I know that the lower bracket is on the new sleds but will come with the bumper for the 08 and earlier.

I agree...everyone sees things differently!

so quick question will the older generation floatplate till fit with this new bumper or should we order the 09 float plate?

The older float plate works just fine and that is what you should order.

Mountainhorse thanks for making it a little more clear yes that's what I was refering to. # 14

I see it now, I thought everyone was talking about #3.

Looks like it would be low enough and the regulator shouldn't be a problem but I'll check with Skinz.

I believe this is the regulator you are talking about. My front end is already tore apart so it is easy to see.

Thanks for the pictures.

Well here is the latest on the radiator block off plate...

I've been in touch with SPG... they will have some pix with the block off plate installed soon on Monty's RMK in the pix for the proto.

2005 and 2006 models HAD the radiator... not the PLASTIC #14 plate above.... If you deleted your radiator, which you must do in order to install ANY of the aftermarket bumpers, you would need to order the

CLOSEOFF-NOSEPAN REAR,BLK (5436653-070) $36.37 (#14) and trim it to fit..

OR...

If you are good with metal, trim the block off plate that you have..

Prank Monkey... you must have a Shift or other carbed model...

On the shifts, the Voltage Regulator is mounted to the nose pan block off plate like you show in your photo... on any of the 2007 - 2009 CFi's.... it is mouted with the ECU on the clutch/belt guard.

For that one, you will remove regulator from the block off plate, trim the block off plate install per the instructions..

The block off plate on the Carbed models from 2007 and 2008 is a diff part number but essentially the same... made to acomodate the Regulator.

NOTE: If you run a 2005 thru 2009 RADIATOR EQUIPPED Polaris IQ chassis (RMK, Switch, Touring, Trail IQ etc)

You MUST delete the radiator to be able to run ANY of the aftermarket bumpers available today.

If you upgrade to the 2009 front end you MUST also delete the radiator.

Thanks for your replys. Mine is an 08 600HO RMK 144 not a shift. But it is carbed so should be the same as the shift and the diagram posted above for ewith #14 plate having 2 holes for mounting the voltage regulator.

Mountianhorse, so you trim plate 14 and reinstall with regulator mounted to the plate 14 when done?

mountainhorse THANK YOU for all you help. This is the problem when something goes from concept to production so fast.

I appreciate your help a ton! Same to you monte!

Paul_Aris,
I have an 08 carbed shift and it also has the reg in that location. I would imagine some customizing of the #14 plate to fit around bumper and still mount the reg will be involved. I'm getting treedogs bumper because it looked easier to perform the trimming. My reg has enough slack in the pigtail to allow lateral/vertical movement. I also had an electrical issue that was traced to a short in the oil tank wire that required reg/stator/brake switch replacement. I'm betting the harnesses on the carbed models are all suspect. Have yet to test on snow so we'll see if the fix works!

Paul,
I ordered a front bumper for my Dragon this morning, however thanks to your site having tons of other things (I probably didn't need) I just spent tons more.
Any suggestions on how to explain this to my wife:eek:
