Alternative Impact A Arm close up pics & installation thoughts.

So i've ridden my sks 870miles so far and had the 36" alt impact on since almost day one.



for sure its more tippy on the trail but i can still hammer down the pure trail sleds, its very much up to how good you are adapting to the sled.



i tested my friends standard sks and it was night ant day and he couldnt follow me between the treelines etc :p



i have some questions do.



is there a more strong lower a-arm that can be bought? broken mine both sides so i replaced total of 4 arms.



any ideas on the heavy steering? i had my suspensions serviced and all winter it felt hard to steer even do i started with the factory setting all the way around and adjusted out from that.



I had Alt a-arms on a doo and the steering effort was considerably more than the stock. I traced it down to Alt's balljoints.. They need to be lubed alot
I used a dry wax bike chain lubricant that stayed on the exposed part of the joint, IMO being able to grease the joint
would be the best
 
He uses standard ball joints/heims. Google them. They are cheap and available in several different strengths. I have never understood why people spend a ton of money to not have to buy stock arms, just to have to re-purchase the aftermarket arms that they just purchased.
 
After applying some of the KISS philosophy i have found that cutting a ladder 48" or so... and balancing it on a well broken in harbor frieght cheap CHINAH junk transmission lift (lol) you can literally balance the sled side to side and check geometry at any ride hight (if your useing air shocks) as well as check steering angles cast/cam. ECT.

Id say a SMALL amount of adjustment could have fixed it. could the sled have been bent from the impact that necessitated the need for new a-arms? Never seen a rev or iqr from 05 vintage that was strait. And no thats not me makeing gay jokes about skidoo. Because, well ya know? ;)?? I use dry teflon spray and graphit

Back in the days of the dragon i was bending stock RMK a arms from jumping. Then the carbon fiber arm debacle of 14... Now cast a arms made from butteritainium... The arms i posted are the cheep chromolly version and are VERY well abused, and getting old enough to enroll in grade 2 or 3. Now i need some fancy bent ones with high clearance in Ti. Excited to see how the new ice age forged arms do as well. End of the day id rather support local business's whom make superior parts!
