I'm seeing threads above the nyloc?

I used a lock washer and stainless acorn nut on my upper ball joints.
I couldn't leave the fugly threads and such in ankle bash zone.
Halfway through the first ride I checked and one was loose.
Tightened them german tight and no issues since.

devilmanak is talking about the bottom of the upper a arm stud. The upper threads are great, it's the lower threads that are pretty close. This photo is not upright but look at the lower threads on the right side of the photo.

dude, did Scott test you those pics? He texted them to me, so let me know if you do not have them.
I didn't think about the tops being so gnarly, knee busters for sure!

Yep, thanks... I got the photos of what happens when the lower nut comes off :-(

The gnarly spindle tops are one of the many good reasons to wear knee / shin guards right :-)

Bent another lower left alt impact arm today... Definitely a very hard hit

Bummer... so why do you think your rod ends are not creating a fail point and shearing, instead of bending the A Arm. I know every hit is different but am I correct you've bent 2 lower A arms not but not the rod ends??

That's correct I've bent two with out one rod end failing. Dan said that I'm the first person to do that with his axys arms. He said I could try leaving the rod ends out a few more threads and they would shear faster. But I think it's just because the axys lets me go places that u shouldn't be...

Sincere question.

With the stocker on the one side... and the AI on the other... when viewed from a dead on front view... will the sled lean to one side or are both sides exactly the same?

Super easy install. Awesome kit hands best on the market in my opinion.

I ordered heavy duty arms from dan because i creamed one of his standard arms 2 years ago on my pro.
Was a stupid hit that zbroz would have been fine with.
Ruined my shock, lower arm, tie rod and my day.
Pissed me the f#%k off too.

Tell dan you want the same as mine, it's worth the upcharge. His standard arms are .065 wall tube.
Mine are .080 wall thickness.

Its the best option available.
The rod end will still save the spindle/bulkhead if that worries you.

Encased ball joints are strong but no shear point makes the spindle/shock/arm the point of mangle.

Ah!

I got an early set I guess.

Bolt and nyloc nut came in my kit.

Using a 3/8" stainless bolt now.

Fail Points work

My break points worked as advertised. All A-Arms and other parts in tact, had a spare lower joint but not a steering rod, so had to call it the day. Next time I'll have both, easy parking lot repair.

Guys it's a total crap shoot on these things. You can hit things too many ways to count. Not a guarantee to save the arm but more often than not it will. Sucks when it doesn't happen but I'll take even a 50/50 chance ( although I think it's a lot better than that) over taking an arm every time. Out of all the axys arms I've sold, I've had three call for replacements. To give you an idea of what that means in terms of numbers, they are gone before they come back from the coater. Right now were building exclusively for the axys and I think were finally almost to the point of keeping in stock. This design has been working very well but again it's not fool proof. The arms I built for sheetmetalfab are an .083 wall. Super heavy duty. The standard arms all go out with the new .049 Docol material. We can provide the heavier tube on request. Keep in mind when doing this your taking things into your own hands if further damage occurs. I say this because I have seen several sleds with holes poked through the bulkhead on that front mount even with the stock arms. Not saying it's going to be an epidemic but the potential is there. Larry you did get the arms just before we started using the titanium one piece stud instead of the through bolt. For those using the stud be sure to use loctite. Thanks!
Dan

Just put my 36" kit on last night. I see no problem with the top stud bottom nut. Everything went together great. Can't wait to try them out. Thanks Dan!

as near as I can tell there is 100% contact with the nylon when these are bolted up and properly tightened, meaning the nylon is entirely used up with the stud thread. For all who have this kit that haven't used loctite on that Ti stud for piece of mind it's worth going back and doing so.
Dan

Well, it does not have contact with the nylon on mine. I used a torque wrench and torqued them to 40 lbs. After seeing the pics a friend from Donnelly sent I pulled them apart and locktited them, again torquing them. I used a stock flat washer on both sides and would not be comfortable without using them as narrow as the bushings are and considering they are sitting on aluminum. I will gladly pay extra for the through bolt with bushings when you send the two spare lower arms I have on order.....

I see now it's the thickness of the washers. The studs were not intended to be used with them. Because of the "potential" casting issues with these spindles we having some longer studs made for the guys that want them. Thanks for the pic Kevin!

Great news, I'll take 4 please!

Folded a Left lower today, called Dan up... On a SUNDAY AFTERNOON. Answers the phone, and I already got a new one ordered up and on the way. Now that's customer service!

So i've ridden my sks 870miles so far and had the 36" alt impact on since almost day one.

for sure its more tippy on the trail but i can still hammer down the pure trail sleds, its very much up to how good you are adapting to the sled.

i tested my friends standard sks and it was night ant day and he couldnt follow me between the treelines etc :p

i have some questions do.

is there a more strong lower a-arm that can be bought? broken mine both sides so i replaced total of 4 arms.

any ideas on the heavy steering? i had my suspensions serviced and all winter it felt hard to steer even do i started with the factory setting all the way around and adjusted out from that.

Dan makes heavy duty lowers.
The standard ones are feeble.

Heavy steering is often rear suspension related.
Or check your toe in.

Gotta get some stiffer then, this ones break of to easy for my riding "yes i know there is a limit before the bulkhead takes the hit instead, just feels like it can take lot more"

Season is toast here now so starting saving up for all aroun elka stage 5
