Alpine vs. MC Express or Boondocker

Iamvector, looks like there are not any miles on that Nytro. Do you worry about break in miles?

its not my sled but i had about 5 miles on mine when i installed my turbo kit,i like one easy ride day 50 or more miles would be a great break in after that giddy up:D

Right now Mitch is testing the gt25 and the gt28 turbo's. just to see which one works best in which situation. When his kits are ready, you will be able to get it with either turbo, depending on what stage you want.

hes using the 2560 right in between the 28 and 25
iamvector did you build a nytro?

ah i didnt realize he was testing the 2560 great little turbo but i like the 28rs works unreal on my vec.as fast as the nytro spools a 2871 with the 28rs housing would probably make that thing a rocket.i havnt built a nytro but it will more than likely be my next sled my vec is still so much fun to ride not in a rush for a new one but iam thinking about it & trying to get prices down so i know what it will cost in the endi have looked at every kit & i know what i want in a kit i like the synergy the best right now, with parker motor sports kit & daves powderlites kit right there too. it all about the fuel & timing box they run its in a whole other league vs just the fuel adder box most run i dont see any reason to run efi if you are just going to throw more fuel at it,changing fuel & timing curves is how you get the real power out of it.iam not bashing the other kit for not running it just want my kit to have it.

Darn straight Vector! I have the Synergy 2860 running pump fuel in the Pex, I may have had to wait to get the kit, but it was worth every minute!
Would like to get a Nytro in the next year or two, but wouldnt run anything but a Synergy on it.
So anyone selling their Synergy Nytro in the future let me know!

Alpine is an extra $1000 bucks for a fuel tank yeah right drop the price sell some kits! I'm buying someones kit next month lets keep the info flowin.

you get more than just the tank for the extra $1000 bucks i will get a couple of pics of the kit and post them with the parts it will include. you get what you pay for. buy a cheep kit you will get a cheep kit. for those who like to compete they look for quality.

Alpine, Boondocker, Synergy and Powderlite all seen to be building basically the same kit. They all learned a valuable lesson from running the Apex. The faster you get the exhaust from the head to the turbo the better throttle response you get.

If BD really does have their box figured out so it works on a baseline without having to be changed all day long, yet still gives you the ability to fine tune on each individual hill it could be hard to beat.

ok, stepping in here to hopefully learn...going boost and looking forward to it!!!!

is a big spend, so want to make right decision, and that usually involves best support...and best support locally has HUGE pluses for me...

well, locally NW turboworks in Bozeman...and they ahve been VERY responsive to my tons o questions...

they are using a GT25 front mount...and seem to be getting some good traction...they are doing mild boost 7-8psi...

I am only interested in getting to 200HP...and want ULTRA reliable...want turn key and no thinking and worrying about performance...

any thoughts on NW turboworks? or their system? here is link to their site..

really appreciate you all stepping in and sharing...and COMPLETELY concur, that managing fuel through the curve is better than blowing more in...used to manage carbs this way with EGT's and jetting...cant imagine having better tech and not making it work for me!!

appreciate your input!!! and know others are leaning on this for decisions, thanks Irmen, and Dave, and others for their time!!!

I agree with all of this.

Just pick the kit you feel most comfortable with, and ride.

Alpine - frount mount
BD -side mount
Synergy- mid mount (prob shortest header)
Powder lites- rear mount
mcx -rear mount

All of them run different fuel controllers and pump/injector setups, headers, there is a big difference in all the kits and guys who will say this is the best or that is the best. Get to somewhere and ride them all one after the other then decide for yourself.(hint YAMAFEST!!!! REVY) ha everyone might have a opinion because thats what they bought so it must be the best. LOL info is as good as where it comes from, so ride then buy. There is also alot of false rumors that certain sleds have blown up, also not true ( hey darko?) haha
If at all possible try then buy, JMO

nicely said. alpine will be there with demo sleds and i think mike and jason will be there to show what their nitros will do.

I was really surprised that my MCX Nytro didn't have any more lag than a Synergy Nytro that I rode. I expected the Synergy to have much quicker response as the turbo is mounted right on the motor but there was no noticeable difference. The Synergy owner noticed it as well. The Synergy was running 12 lbs and the MC was running about 15-16 so that would explain why the MC pulled harder but I still expected a difference in the throttle response. It's good that there are choices, if there was only one brand the prices would keep climbing.

Simple truth.

The only time mcx owners suffer from the turbolag is when they read about it on the internet!!

Come ride alpines if you say you cant notice a real diff, your sences are out of wack. LMAO Havent tried mitches out yet so cant speak to that.

Rode with a Turbo RX1 that has a bender kit on it. Ran well, but I was suprised how much turbo lag it had. I have an MCX on my Nytro, it spools much, much quicker than the bender on the RX1. I did like how stable the RX was. We were drag racing, and yea mine took the hole shot, but it was darn near uncontrolable out of the hole.

My point is that, there is very little lag in my kit.

Question: Does the lower gearing make a difference in the spooling. I am running an 18/40

I assumed we were talking about Nytro's. There is lots of differences between Apex kits.
If you dont think a front mount Apex has lag, you havent rode a front mount Nytro........I couldnt imagine what a rear mount Apex would be compared to a front mount Nytro.
