Alpha track on Matryx

1st weekend out with the Alpha track on my Boost. Wow, it is head and shoulders above my previous tracks (Ski doo track and then Lynx track). There’s also a big difference between the Alpha track and the 3” pitch Ascender track I have on my NA 850. Gets up out of the snow better, tough time keeping the front end down, and this is on a Pro, not a Khaos. We will see how it lasts, saw some 70 mph on the trail.

Yeah, not sure if I will, but I guess it would be neat. How is the series 9 doing compared to guys with the ski doo track?

It does much better than the 300LX for sure.

Haven't compared the exact same sleds with the skidoo track.

It's been doo vs poo w series 9

X2 would like to see your set up. I have my 165 Alpha track I’m putting on my 9R but haven’t started yet.

I got a local shop to do it. Not exactly sure how he cuts the driver holes. I was going to make a jig and something to punch through with a shop press, but ran out of time and just paid to have it done. The alpha track is different from the powerclaw. For one thing, it’s 3.5” pitch.

Is the Alpha track improved over the regular 3" Powerclaw track?
Yes, the geometry of the track is different. Probably the biggest change is the 3.5" pitch on the Alpha track. For the snow I ride my 3" Powerclaw has been great but I ride with 3" alpha's and they are on another level of traction and they seem to chew out of almost anything. The paddle design is also slightly different. The rubber durometers I think are the same 80 durometer but I would not be surprised if the alpha track has some differences there too.

If I were to get a new track I would get a 3" alpha track and put it on my twin rail. I would also like to do some measurements because punching holes in the track might not be needed and you can just use the inner windows with alpha drivers.

Also, if you intend on getting an alpha track, get the newest model number. The new superseded tracks have had a bunch of durability improvements over the original tracks in 19'.

Would be curious how that holds up, I never really get to exceed like 40mph on our trails here and my 3" power claw on my ascender has held up great. 4200 miles on the original track. I try to not run my track to dirt and usually don't log hop either so that has helped.

Also sounds like you might need to adjust your track shocks if it is wheeling too much for your liking . I have never been impressed by a Polaris track in the snow I ride, although I haven't gotten a chance to ride the 3.25" from them, would be curious how that hooks up.

I’ll see how it holds up, I believe I have the earliest version. Track was $500, paying the shop to punch and clip was much more.

I ran the Alpha 146" track on my 9r last season. The grip in these tracks are very good in firmer snow compared to its opponments.
I like the track for my riding style and typical snowconditions we get.
BUT, theres a significant weight difference. The 146" alpah track is actually 5kg heavier then the Serie 6 146". That is whopping 25% heavier then the serie 6 track.
Polaris put alot of effort creating a ligjtweight sled, also with focus on rotational weight.

I will do some back and forth swapping around these 2 tracks this season to see if I can make up my mind.

Reasons that the cat tracks outlast the sled, whereas the Polaris tracks are essentially disposable.

Which shop did it for you?

Who punched and clipped your track?
