Ak-47?

I'v always wanted one. I have some rims for sale and a guy wants to trade an AK. Hes showing me the gun tomorrow what do I look for? I hear ther are cheapies about. Also how much trade value should I give him? Anything would help I know nothing about them.

all I know is that everyone else in the world loves them and that special forces in vietnam took the AK over our m16 if they could.

Even cheapies, the damn gun can take an absolute beating and still fire. Course it's no fun having a semi knowing it could be full auto.

I don't know alot about AK's, but do know a little. Is it an AK-47 or AK-74? The first variation is the original and was produced starting in 1947. The 74 had refinements made to it and they began producing it in 1974. The biggest things you need to look for are the country of manufacturer. Also, what kind of stocks, fore ends does it have? I have read that the higher the quality the better stock the weapon will have.

To make it simple go to, www.ar15.com
They have an AK47 site. You can find out everything you could possibly want to know about AK's, AR's, Shotguns, etc.:)

Thats a very very easy fix.. :D

As for Ak's i've really never been a fan of them so never really did a lot of research on them.. you best bet would to be look up a blue book value.. but you will need the country of manufc. and year.. thats the only real way to get a half ways accurate valuation of the firearm..

As for looking at the gun.. always point out any little flaw you see.. i.e. rust, pits, scratches, broken or bent pieces... for the internals dont know if there is a real quick way to check them for wear other than dissasembely the whole operating system

Thats a very very easy fix.. yeah but it's a very costly fix if you get caught!

Are you looking for a good "tool" gun or more at a keeping value gun? If it's a "tool" I wouldn't sweat small small rust or scratches on the stock...besides you can get new stocks.

Get Nates opinion if you can.

stocks, country of manufacture, use and abuse, post up what he shows you. then we can help, there are so many variations, its hard to put numbers with all of them like this.

Not accurate by any means to anything past 100 yards or so but pretty much indestructable for being plywood and cheap steel , youll get 2-3 shots in a group then it will throw one in god knows who's country. Semi's tend to do that. But if you wanted a truck gun for self defense or busting a coyote IMO other than a shotgun you cant beat them for that.

Its just simple engineering, Americans put too much thought into the M16 and the AR15. They need to adapt to the FN Bulpup rifles.

my brother has an early chinese ak, he's had it for 18yrs now and has never cleaned it, sits on the seat of the feed pickup all year long with the dog climbing over it all the time, has been it 3 wheeler wrecks, had 2 stocks put on it, never has jambed and yes about every third round comes out tumbling, which sends it wherever, he uses for everything from gophers to deer, buys the military ammo in the wooden case with the stripper clips wrapped in waxed paper tyed with a string, 1200 rds fmj to a crate, never seen one miss fire

ak

the AK is for short distance, no failure fire. on the bench it might suck, but in real world conditions rain humidity mud this gun will not leave ya in the wrong. the m16 is a great gun if you keep it clean and your out of the weather. if your in the sticks and you want a no hassle gun go with the ak.
i've seen prices from about $300 to $450 for a AK. look in shotgun news or visit gunbroker.com for a good idea what these guns are worth. also if you have some pawn shops in town ask them what they think. my 2 cents

OK so its actualy called an SKS-D is it worth 400.

SKS's are a dime a dozen and it definitely is not worth $400. I remember when people would buy them for less than $100 a piece. If it was actually an AK I would say go for it, but an SKS..........he!! no! That is my personal opinion....:beer;

I beleive SKS, and the AK shoot the same bullet. 7.62x39 or something real close to that. I bought a SKS a few years ago with 500 rounds for $150. It looked brand new also. The AK is worth a lot more than the SKS. There both fun guns to go blow out a hill side with. I have a AR-15 also, and it seems to be a lot more accurate. I deffinantly wouldn't pay over $150 for it, and if it turns out to be the AK, maybe 3-$400. JMO!

Both guns shoot 7.62x39 ammo. There is no way an sks would be worth $400....I'd say maybe $200. They can definetely be picked up cheap.

I had a 870 Super Magg that I bought in high school. It didn't even have a box of shells through it, but a buddy of mine needed cash. I paid $200 for it and used the chit out of it for 9 years. After I bought a new Benelli another friend was interested in buying it. He traded me his SKS w/ 300 rounds of ammo plus $250. I didn't blink twice on his offer.

The sks isn't really much of a hunting rifle cuz the accuracy does kinda suck, but it's my favorite dick around gun. Ammo is dirt cheap and you don't have to worry about it jamming when i rattle off a 30 round clip.

I took it to some gun dealers today and they said the same thing, its only worth 250 tops. So I told the guy to bring money and get his gun, he was very nice about every thing. SSssooo...I took the 4 bills plus another 1 and baught this....DSCF3092.jpgDSCF3088.jpg
