Air filter sucking snow

Updated to the TSS. The filter pod is just ingesting the deep powder. I need some ideas to fix this problem. Wishing I had my air box and filter skin back.

what bike? Im surprised I though it would now be easy to just reach down and shake it?

that's how mine is on my KX also angled up but with NO airbox its all open in there? but I think in dry bottomless snow any box or filter is going to get snow, that's why I wanted to be able to just reach down and shake it off ? maybe not?

I'm running a 07 Crf 450x. The powder shovels off my boots and fills every hole on the bike. With the air box out its next to the pipe melts the snow and runs down the intake tube. Then the bogging starts, run it on the trail for a while it cleans out runs fine. I ran the filterskin in the sink to see how "waterproof" it is, was not impressed.

You need to re position it so that it doesn't melt the snow on the filter. See if you can't turn it more upright so it is higher and away from pipe.

I get snow packed in tight down at the base of the back of the motor, but filter is up so high it stays free, snow drops away from it with air box removed.

I've heard of guys running 2 UNI Pre filters instead of one and having no issues. im taking an extra along on my trip just in case, I have no experience just hear say!!

What size is the filter that they supply with the tss kits? i have a reg st, but picked up a uni fiter that is 3.5"x6" with an outerwears on it to put right onto my carb heater, looks a little to small. Bike is a '14 ktm300. Thanks

Tried it as up as much as possable, battery box consumes a lot of space. Tried it down next, no better. Third attempt a long 2" hose had too much line restriction and choked out the top end. On to a fourth try with the reducer near carb and 3" the rest the way back. Also zip tied a second larger filter skin over the pod.

Mine sits right under my seat on my cr500 and rarely has any build up... That is what I liked the most about the new kit? Of course on the cr500 no manual shaking necessary

First start with header wrap and a engine shroud kit. For sure the long intake tube will kill power. Just get pod upright as much as possible

I've got mine sideways towards the exhaust and slightly tilted down. I thought that is how these should be oriented, so if the snow does melt through the filter, it doesn't run down the intake tube. However, I guess you are saying there is enough sucking action the water still gets into the engine?

filters

1st year I rode my WR the word was just a filter in the air box wasn't going to cut it, would clog/would bog and.....but it worked fine.

Next year I build a setup with 4" thin pipe and about a yard of frogskinz on my yz250 and in deep powder it was a problem and clogged. Ditto for my KTM riding partner, we have ridden suffocating deep dry powder, sticky powder and air box with frogskinz holes and filter has worked best for us, silicone adapters on shelf.

Now I have to build a custom shock for the wr so I can keep the airbox/battery box and have swinging aux. suspension..............first go last week end shock was great in bumps but sagged tooooo much in deeeep powder riding and no traction / bad deep snow steering.

I've been riding a wr the last couple winters, and now too am planning on putting my st on my yz250. I'd be interested in hearing how it has worked out for you and maybe some tips or tricks that you have learned.

Overall the torque of my wr was a better bike for riding tight trees and deeeep fluff. I probably really didn't give my yz250 a fair shot.
i still have it, haven't fired it in two years. My nephew is going to get it ready and ride it some this winter. Way more hp than my wr but in the wrong spot i send a pm.
