AHHHHH What track do I really want.....SUMMIT X

I cant decide on which track to get. I know I want an 06 summit x package but the track descision is killing me. I want to get good at jumping and droping. I also want to be able do turn downs when jumping and some minor freestyle moves. BUT, I dont want to sacrifice anything when it comes to the days with 3 feet of fresh and some major peaks to climb. I had always assumed that after my edge 151 I would get another until I realized the revs have 16" tracks.

:beer;:beer;:beer;

I know there is nothing wrong with the track I just cant decide which track length to get. Thanks

From your question, it sounded like you wanted to replace the track. If you like jumping, and trail riding, buy a short track. If you like deep powder, buy the long track. I've gone a little longer every year, and would never go back. If it were me, I'd go with the 159" that year. I never thought I'd want longer than a 151" when I had it, but after one year on a 159, I ordered the 162" last year. Don't regret it at all.

Oooohhhh Track Length.
How much do you weigh?
Where are you riding and what is the snow usually like?
Do you climb much?

180 dry
Central Oregon, Batchelor
Southern Oregon Pelican Butte, Brown Mountain
Snow is steep and deep when its good but sometimes just steap and crappy.

I rode a 151 rmk 800 last year and couldnt manage half way up on some of the steep climbs in 2-3 foot of fresh with a good run up.

I know that I dont want longer than the 151 because I want to jump and try turn downs, but I want maximum track speed for the way to the hill and max climb power for when its deep.

I never trail ride! Only if its required to get to the deep! And I like to haul a$$ if its required.

So basically, is it possible to be very good at jumping and doing big drops with 151, or, will it be Much easier with a 144

I have a 151 and when mine is down I ride the wifes 144 and really I can't tell much difference other than the azz end sinks in a little more on the 144. I'd say go with a 151.

you can still jump a 151 if you want to, but its a little nicer in the deepness, heck, get a 144x2.5x16 camo extreme, then you got the best of both worlds, more lug to help put you up the hill, but not to long to jump... just another idea.

i ride a 07 144 and love it,i do drops and jump alot not really any freestyle, but it rocks in the deep,i ride with guys that all have longer tracks then i do in places like Valemount and i go everywhere they do,just not quite as high as the 160ish

On a Rev, I found [for me] the 151x16x2.3 track worked very well.
Kept up just fine in the trees. Was still reletivley playful. Maybe a tad long for huge air/drops..

Was a good 'in between', or 'do it all' track for my tastes, and that sled.

FWIW, I originally had a 159x16x2.3 on the sled, didn't like it. Too long, too much traction, not as 'playful', harder to carve, it would climb like a mofo tho!!

But, I'm ~155# in casual dress..

whatever you do, go for the tallest lug, it makes a big differnce, even a quarter inch really helps a lot. my last sled had more power than an m7, and the 144x16 has almost identical fotprint to a 153x15, yet they always outclimbed me, because they have the 2.25 tracks, and mine was 2

I think you have to decide whats most important to you. The freestyle, jumping, and turning or being the baddest on the deep days. I have the 159 and wouldnt trade it for anything shorter, but I live for the deepest days. When the snow starts to set up the 159 isnt much fun, there is too much track. 151 is probably the comprimise.

I knew this would be tough, I will probably go for a 151 but there is a fairly nice 2000 mile sled 3 hours from me with the 144, riden by a 60 year old. I want to beat everyone all the time isnt that the point!

There is also that 375 mile 2007 in reno that I could get but its an 07 and I hear they have problems.

Any more thoughts would be great. thanks.

More stories of guys on 144's beating 151 sleds! Dont get me wrong my edge needed the 151 or more but the revs 144 is comparible to the edges longer track.

AHHHHHHH its killing me i need to spend this money.
