After 2 years in Hiding the Beast is back

OK guys hope this doesnt come across as tacky. Some people like stockers, some people like to boondock climb jump pose etc..... Its all fun and sledding is just a great sport altogether. Me, real simple, I like HP. Im sure some of the tards on the forum will jump in here with there banter but I dont care. I gotta thank some of the peeps that helped me get my beast back together cause it was a big deal.

Thanks to Simons CPR for doing a kick a$$ job on the motor. Simons CPR the Original Superman Block(tm) :)
Thanks to B1Dodge (snowest) for helping me reassemble the motor from boxes of parts that have been in my garage for almost 2 years.
Huge thanks to the crew at SPS Racing for countless hours of refab in the shop for the past 2 weeks.
Thanks to the cool peeps on Ty4stroke for being such a great resource!
Thanks to my family for living without a Dad for 2 weeks.
Thanks to Boss Noss for providing incredible Nitrous system for this beast.
Thanks to Kevco (snowest) for naming her with such a cool name.
Thanks to ACmtncat(snowest) at Summit Graphics in Orem Utah for the sweet graphics!

A little history on the TReX. You dont have to read if you dont want to.
2 years ago almost to the day the trex had a nitrous backfire which took out a rod, piston and motor. Right after going undefeated at the fairview shootout in 07 I was trying to start the sled to ride back to the truck and the battery was dead (garbage Batcap battery.) Trying to save power for a jump start I disconnected what I thought was the hand warmers but turned out to be my nitrous switch. BOOM!
That summer I sent the block to Simons CPR where it sat for over a year on the shelf. Jeff was very cool about it and didnt lose any of my parts! :) About a month ago I called Jeff and told him I was finally getting around to putting my racer back together. He busted it out and got me the motor right away so we could begin reconstruct. The motor work was perfect, thats all, it just looks bulletproof!
After a week with B1doge (top fuel mech) from Snowest reassembling the motor I took the sled over to SPS Racing for some serious refab. We installed a new turbo, refab'd the intercooler, modded the rear suspension and basically worked the sled over front to back. We made so many changes to the turbo system that it can no longer be considered an mcxepress but now is a custom SPS Turbo. SPS Racing does Polaris Dragon Turbos, Razor Turbos, any custom EFI turbo, suspension work and metal fab work. Brook Beckstrom the owner is a former world champ hillclimber for team Polaris and a well respected guy out here in the west.

The Boss Noss Nitrous system capable of an estimated 200 hp was all in working order and simply had to be cleaned up a little bit. It works so well I decided to take my water methanol off, I simply dont need it. Jims Nitrous flat out works. After 2 years of sitting in my garage my custom "hold my butt in the sled" Boss Seat looks like new as well!
Im out of time with the shootout on saturday. I dont have any more clutching to throw at it so Im gonna have to hope for the best. Shootout may be a bust with the blizzard like spring conditions we are having right now but we'll see. Ive had her on the snow for a quick test run to make sure she ran and she ran good. Ive been having a little low end prob, possible residual issue from the backfire. Last night we thought we got it cleaned up but you never know. Now Im just hoping she runs well and holds and all is done right.

:D

It had better be fast Freak, because that is the ugliest fast sled I have ever seen.:D:beer; To bad she did not rip for you Freak.

Only 800 that gave my CPC ho M8 a run was Jeremys super retro polaris turbo running 20+lbs with nitrous, we traded some wins. Tjs SPS turbo was fast but he was running less boost so couldnt catch me. I was running 16lbs all day and it took it very well. Still running when I pulled it in the trailer. CC and his pg twisted 1000 took off early but I dont think it would have been much of a race after seeing what it did to the other 1000s. The wastegate actuator only let me run to 16 lbs, couldnt go any higher. And on 16 lbs with the Boss Noss I ran the belt right out of the primary and blew it to pieces. Needs more gearing. Diamond drive only good for 86mph and I know we were blowing past that.

Freak you might have bumped your head and hurt your neck so you couldn't look right when you fell off your sled racing Jeromy so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt... but there was a OVS 800 that beat you 3 out of the 4 times I raced you..but don't worry..I won't claim to be the fastest 800 there....:beer;

"Id rather be fast than pretty." Had a good long conversation with Jeff from Simons CPR today and he heped me understand what i did wrong and what I need to do. Live and learn. Too bad I dont have the money to do everything I should be doing to be fast, so I just have to get by with what I can afford.

BS. whatever, you know its funny everyone remembers racing me but I dont remember racing you. I guess everyone there beat me 50 times and I only beat radski.... what a joke...

I say Tony's in two weeks IF weather permits. If weather is bad we should make it another weekend. If there is one cloud in the western United States it will be hovering over cornice ridge where we will be racing.

Hey Zeb! Will the Apex be ready by then? We need to throw some wicked chutes in the mix as well!

I'll be ready. I wasn't as bad off as I thought. I blew the throttle body boots off that connect to the head underneath that I couldn't see with out doing a boost leak test. We'll for sure throw down all the nasty's up there! Can someone say carnage:beer; Maybe I'll get a hair up my arse and get the cr tunnel and m10 on before then.

By "CC" are you refering to JSCC Freak? And this Jeremy, is that JSCC's brother that you all are talking about? Just trying to get a better picture of the happenings out there as I ended up not being able to make it.

BTW, sorry to hear TREX wasnt up to par but there is always another race to be had.

Tony's in two weeks? I'm there for sure. Are we drag racing for cash or are we going to climb some stuff too? Some kind of winner takes all or what? The race hill at Tony's will be very interesting as that hill is much different than the bunny hill at Fairview. Tony's actually has a couple of hills that will let the turbos stretch thier legs a bit, not to mention some wicked climbs. Would like to get some Canadians down for that as well. Probably too late for this year, but I would like to set up some sort of Pig Iron Shootout at Tony's and get us a good turnout.

most of the canadians stayed home this year because they were given the impression last year that it was time for a local to win and that old stuff should let the newer stuff win. Its kind of weard that the reason they started coming to fairview was because it was where you could see how you compared to the fastest mtn sleds in the country. Now there seems to be a shift towards smaller local get togethers where all the players are known ahead of time. Even if the interest was there for tony grove such a trip requires some notice and planning for time off.

Your making it too complicated. Put the word out that there is a race and some chute competition and see who shows. Whether you get 10 riders or 1000 its still a good day.

Todd, he is not talking about me or the Jeremey you know. The Jeremey he is talking about rides a wicked fast old style Polaris Turbo.

But I want to know where the fook were you?

Yeah, get on something for those of us south of the border and more than a klick or 2 away from BC:cool::beer;

nicely put andrew
it was a fun day have to give props to scott and his brother at diamand s I now we raced up that hill at least 50 times and he was always ahead of me. My nytro ran great there was a lot of 1200 there but in the end there was only one that was racing in the end with me and diamand s and it was a pure logic turbo, I couldnt beat him and he couldnt beat me it was a good group of guys to race. Also have to give props to andrews twisted turbo m1000 and jeremys 800 polaris ,and jeds nytro. zeb and jeremy raced all day and was defently 2 of the fasted sleds there. I now there was a couple 1200 from boondocker and there was a DandD 1200 there that was fast but they never raced that much they broke but you could tell they were fast. Dave little m8 ran ok and brooks 700 800 ran good to they were in there own little class i guess you could say. It was fun racing glad everyone had fun, dave sorry you did not get to line up the TREX would of been fun to race against it sucks when you spend all that time and money and thing dont work. Maybe next year it will be hard packed so your finger track will hook up

Zeb and I were racing my white 1k all day. I let him run it more because I know he spent a lot if time getting his Apex ready and he was bummed it didn't run. Plus it was a whiteout. I am not calling you out or anything like that. I don't care who is fastest or what brand anyone likes. I have owned 1 CPC non turbo, 4 BD sleds, one Twisted, one Impulse and on from Obrien.

I only brought this up because you indicated before the shootout that the 8 was going to beat good running 1ks. You should beat every pump gas 1k at that level of boost but I didn't see you beat one 1k or over sled. I raced against everything there but Travis OVS 1200 and I will say this list of sleds was faster than you. Most all of them should be and ccs obviously make a difference but you were claiming that you were going to beat down the 1k and over sleds with your 8 and that simply was not the case. Also, as you have stated in the past the bunny hill gives slower sleds a far better chance. On the big hill the difference would have been more. If you spray it and get it to hold together it will be closer but this is what I and many others saw.

Diamond s sleds plural
Dustin
Every 1200 on the hill from BD and OVS
My 1k and one other Twisted 1k
Jed's BD 1k
Jed's BD Nytro
Jeremy's 800
Travis' Apex
Lance's 1200 on 10lbs

Not calling you out or stating my sled is faster. I have 200 more ccs and boost so it should be. Just stating the truth. You said you could beat the big bore boosted sleds before Fairview and now you are saying you did beat some. Just wanted to set it straight for those that didn't see it themselves. Many others sent me PMs already agreeing with this fully. I agree that you have a very fast 800 boosted sled and I did see it beat Brook many times but I don't think you were beating 1k and up sleds with boost and others agree.

dont have a horse in this race, but think it probably had more to do with Yamafest happening this same weekend no?

Probably a little bit, but typically, the guys that go to Yamafest are not interested in drag racing, they are interested in climbing. Two different venues for two different riding styles. To each their own.
